It is not that the GD made mistakes recreating the system, but rather that they didn't recreate it at all. They created a new system for their use with some Enochian components.

2. Possible, though it should be pointed out that Dee was told that without the ring "he would accomplish nothing." So the magick wouldn't work without the ring. But not working is a lot different than meltdown nonsense. This lines up with my experience too - usually an improperly performed magical ritual just doesn't do anything.

3. Those are two or three pages out of hundreds of pages of diaries. The rest of the material contains nothing of the sort. The first case, in particular, involved some spirit telling Kelley those things without Dee present, and which were later repudiated by the spirits they generally spoke with. Even the wife-swapping incident happened because the angels allegedly told Dee and Kelley that they "should hold all their property in common, including their wives." Some scholars have suggested that this might have been Kelley trying to see how far he could push Dee, and might not have come from the angels at all.

Anyway, in the years this post has been up I have seen no evidence that Enochian is more dangerous than any other kind of magick, and that was what I originally set out to explore.Scott Stenwickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12389664381513219613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-50712973229284149632023-07-06T20:04:10.071-05:002023-07-06T20:04:10.071-05:00I feel there are three reasons:

Maybe that's true.

2. People ignore the temple set up. Michael told Dee he HAD to wear the Ring of Solomon but didn't explain why. Since a custom engraved gold ring can be a big ask, maybe some people skipped it because there no clear reason for wearing it.

3. The revelations of the angels. They told Dee Jesus isn't God, ordered Kelley to marry unhappily, and ordered the men to wife swap to Dee's horror (his wife also cried). Therefore people reason, the Enochian angels are evil in general.Philiphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02971872318697393008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-79097514005641240592020-03-17T07:54:07.218-05:002020-03-17T07:54:07.218-05:00In the Dee diaries there are no talisman designs f...In the Dee diaries there are no talisman designs for the Great Table angels. So the ones in Mastering the Great Table are ones that I came up with. They work for me fine, but there's nothing "canonical" about them. There's no issue with drawing them for yourself. You mentioned:

"(2) If you used talismans for the angels, how did you draw them?"

I was wondering about this. I didn't manage to print out a copy directly from "Mastering the Great Table" since I couldn't find a copy shop that could print it out large enough for me to stand on. I ended up drawing the grid and the letters manually.

Would there be any issues with this? Say if the proportions of the individual squares were not exact or anything alone those lines?

I cannot say that I am effectively able to converse with the Angels still. I’ve had this before in other works but useally the person remembers it this time it’s a complete black out which leads me to think perhaps they aren’t working on that person at all but on my psyche. I also had a encounter with a well as crazy as this sounds what looked like a gray alien with very sharp teeth in a purple jumpsuit def wasn’t LAM. The head was different and the skin was too and even the eyes and not to mention the teeth. My mom mentioned something about this being before she almost died in the OR from emergency surgery which there is no fucking way she could have known.... I felt like the psychosis was almost gone until she went into the hospital and that shit happened and now using the laimen I’m getting weird dreams again but the feeling of being watched has subsided. I’m not sure if the efficacy of the work is blended or more mental since I can’t find anyone with similar expierances.
Scott let me know if this helps any.
I also feel like in a way the Enochian energy amplified any other energy around it and that it def has some kind of intelligence.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05390475593050831595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-10943121081046736332018-03-13T16:08:15.342-05:002018-03-13T16:08:15.342-05:00I didn’t have a ring or use any kind of protection...I didn’t have a ring or use any kind of protection. Scott I don’t think the system stays static it’s more living then most. Regardless I wasn’t doing the work for scholarly reasons so I put much more weight on my personal expierance then anyone else’s work. I try to approach the work from my own purest point of view rather then piggy backing on the expierance a of others. In a way I guess you could say I was doing it more golden dawn style except that I am trying to connect it more so to my other workings which like I stated before is more Voodoun Palo then anything else. No offense taken I’m hoping that I can articulate what happened better. Recently my mom was hospitalized and almost died and what she said to me in particular was very close to part of a dream I had that included some of the Enochian beings which was terrorfining, alarming but also shows the personal gnosis was there. I’m glad she made it. If you have any other questions please let me know. It also seems like I’m thinking better but for a while I was really messed up. I’m starting to carry a picture of the laimen around with me and I feel like it has a strong effect. It's one of the names from the black cross/tablet of union, but in the diaries it's not clear if it is even intended to be an angel name, or just the name for the fire element. So I'm wondering if you were doing this more Golden Dawn style than Dee style. I do know that the two sets of attributions don't mix well, and the 19 day operation is specific to the Dee stuff.

I also find that even when I hear a "meltdown story" second-hand, there are some commonalities. Did you have a ring, or not? You don't mention it above. Ring versus no ring seems to be one of the biggest things that these stories have in common - so far, I have yet to come across anybody who used a ring who also had major problems. But maybe you're the first.Scott Stenwickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12389664381513219613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-47304062086589301672018-03-13T00:17:50.589-05:002018-03-13T00:17:50.589-05:00Scott,
I don’t want to give bad press to the parti...Scott,
I don’t want to give bad press to the particular person or their site I don’t feel it was their fault. I had a wax seal I used and simply placed it on my altar I had a hand bound hand made Enochian Grimorie I was utilizing. I did not have a full temple set up. I didn’t draw the sigils out I simply pumped my omnipotentence into the ones later out in the grimorie I had. I know there is a lot of speculation as far as the 19 day working but I did the key then would call the names from highest rank to lowest. I think I stopped at Bitom. I also didn’t follow the prescribed procedure to a T since most of my work I don’t ideally follow things like that. So there was a couple instances where I would repeat the keys a number of times or start the keys until I went back to the correct day working. The keys I got where off the site https://hermetic.com/enochia/calls . I wanted to say I was about 8 days or so into it I repeated some calls and steps since I also ended up going to the ER myself from major intestine issues before the shtf. I was also having these crazy acid trip like dreams. I
hope I’m getting better I’m not in the psych ward anymore but things are def not back to where they used to be.
Here is basically what I did
Got the layout as far as keys and what not
Lite a candle and some incense for the spirits poured some rum out and some smoke of a cigar.
Did my basic meditation.
Then vibrated the keys and the specific name and let them know I was doing the working then bam the vision would happen. That was it I wanted to do a full set up but I was working like crazy at the time. The last vision I had was very colorful skies I was on a cliff in a white and red robe the Palo spirits I work with where walking up the cliff and they had like ornate outfits one and then this what looked like a yellow eye with wings came down and was shining a light on me and it basically told me to choose either them or us. I tried to explain I had a obligation to them and my intent was never to leave one for the other..... that’s when the eye shut and the light went off and things went fucking nuts. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I'm curious about a couple of things, if you feel like providing more information.

(1) Did you use the full temple setup - sigillum, table, ring, lamen, and so forth?
(2) If you used talismans for the angels, how did you draw them?
(3) Whose arrangement did you use for the sequence of Keys and conjurations? The versions that I'm aware of are Tyson's, James' (which is similar to Tyson's), and Leitch's, which differs from both in several key ways.
(4) How many days into the sequence did this "meltdown" happen?
(5) You obviously are getting better. How long did this incident that you describe last?

As far as the similarities to Voodoun and Palo, I am not going to argue that either way since I never have worked with either of those systems myself and don't know enough firsthand to have an informed opinion about either in relation to the Enochian system.Scott Stenwickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12389664381513219613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-34337096596975073552018-03-11T23:47:33.082-05:002018-03-11T23:47:33.082-05:00I had a melt down doing the 19 day working. I was ...I had a melt down doing the 19 day working. I was then diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. I’ve had pretty in-depth expierance before in western magick, Voodoun, Palo Mayombe and Neigong. This fucked me up something bad... I know I was under a lot of stress but some where along the way I lost complete touch with reality I’m still trying to get grounded. Yes I’m going to attempt it again and finish it. I think there is a strong correlation between Enochian and made other systems namely Voodoun and Palo. Im not going to argue about it that’s my personal conclusion. You certainly do not need to practice Enochian to get results, spiritual or otherwise. The Qabalistic angels can be quite effective as well. If you don't want to do Enochian magick, Case's system is probably the best alternative out there to the more traditional GD system that includes the Concourse of Forces and so forth.

I do think, though, that Case kind of freaked out about Enochian to a degree that is not warranted by the system itself. He was talking about people working with the GD system, for one thing, which is very different from the original system. I'm not enough of an expert on the GD system to tease out whether or not the people he knew who had problems with it were running into specific problems or shortcomings with that system, or if those people had problems to begin with (which, as you can probably guess from the original post, I think is likely).

You could do the math, though. In the letter Case wrote to Regardie, he said that he knew of 36 people who had psychological problems while working with the Enochian system. First off, I want to know if he was including people like Crowley in that list, because as I see it Crowley didn't have problems with the Enochian system at all. But taking Case at his word, if he knew of more than a total of 144 people (36 * 4), it means that the percentage of Enochian practitioners with mental illness he observed was lower than that found in the general population.Scott Stenwickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12389664381513219613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-42407062616332391632017-12-04T14:42:46.147-06:002017-12-04T14:42:46.147-06:00In my opinion Paul Foster Case had enough experien...In my opinion Paul Foster Case had enough experience in ritual work, so he created an effective initiatory path without Enochian magic but with quabbalistic magic. One in four human beings has some form of mental illness. If you have a mental illness, many forms of magical practice can make it worse. I take no issue with those statements. Furthermore, some percentage of the people interested in magical practice are interested in Enochian. Therefore, I would expect to see a few individuals here and there who have problems with it, and I did not mean to come off sounding like I think Enochian magick can never cause problems.

What I'm trying to work out is this - whether Enochian magick is uniquely dangerous among magical systems. THAT'S what I don't see any evidence of from the few anecdotes presented above. I can find just as many anecdotes about Qabalah, or the Goetia, or even meditation. And the only reason I'm looking for evidence at all is that for the longest time, the unique danger of Enochian was conventional wisdom, and it is true that without stronger evidence than anything presented here, I just don't buy it.

As a point, I can throw a similar argument back at you. If Enochian is simply an illusion to be transcended, why are you even bothering to comment here? I have a hard time believing that you're going to convince people to stop practicing, just on your say-so. But of course, I could always be wrong.Scott Stenwickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12389664381513219613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-63434267991807446542016-09-11T01:30:32.792-05:002016-09-11T01:30:32.792-05:00Look at all the names, titles and organizations yo...Look at all the names, titles and organizations you identify yourself with and ask yourself if that is bringing you closer to or farther away from the source of life.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-45809622261573308422016-09-11T01:20:51.236-05:002016-09-11T01:20:51.236-05:00What I think is interestinng is you seem to be cur...What I think is interestinng is you seem to be curious about cases regarding "enochian meltdown" and claim that you are interested in evidence to prove your viewpoint about its lack of validity wrong. And letting that dosage of that element integrate in his/her life. Let us be honest on this forum Enochian magick is not for everyone. There are plenty of stories of Golden Members, not going any further in his/her work after the 5=6 initiation. One branch does not make a tree, and that means there are plenty of systems for an individual can find that will suite him/her. Even Israel Regardie told the cicero's that no one should meddle with Enochian magick until he/she had done 5=6. Evoking or Invoking elements that he/she have not taken the time to balance within him/herself will destroy the individual no matter the safe guards.GABRIELhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15962541427838957951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-37380443069321719232012-11-25T09:38:38.082-06:002012-11-25T09:38:38.082-06:00I will say that Enochian Magick is safe to me if y...I will say that Enochian Magick is safe to me if you follow the preparation's of the Golden Dawn. People should spend more time building his/her aura, and dispelling unwanted energies, habits and thoughts prior to entering high tech magical systems like Enochian. I have found alot of times that there are people who fail at magical operations. Because he/she is posses with obsession. Obsess with being something he/she did not take the time to prepare him/herself to be. I know of two cases actually and personally of a Enochian melt down. One was a young man who already suffered from bi-polar condition. He was a 3=8 initiate of the Golden Dawn, but was during advance work when he was not suppose to. He was found wearing the Hierophant robe and the sword walking the down the street saying " I am the master of the world." And was committed and that really broke my heart because I knew him personally. The other one shot himself in the head.GABRIELhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15962541427838957951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-19308598966155660992010-03-19T14:41:21.719-05:002010-03-19T14:41:21.719-05:00I have read the letter. Does it really matter, at that rate, if they did it at Harvard or at Jim-Bob's Business College?

I think I made myself pretty clear when I prefaced my comments: I have never done Enochian magic, and I do not know anyone mentioned in The Black Lodge. My remarks are base solely on the report itself and a few items I found when searching the internet afterwards. Yes, I realize this is a very limited view of the subject, and I never tried to pretend that my remarks were anything more than just that.

But suffice it to say that I am highly impressed by your implied superiority and your tactful willingness to flame at me on another person's blog.Theo Huffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11832438171790956528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-87395914803246825072009-12-08T05:53:37.770-06:002009-12-08T05:53:37.770-06:00As I recall, it wasn't Stanford, either.

Is there some special insight or knowledge you bring to your analysis that gives this observation more weight than at first appears?Va_Highlanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04671547664669092756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7294505416127496842.post-718196866691477032009-12-07T23:04:44.873-06:002009-12-07T23:04:44.873-06:00That was me who miswrote. Stanford is the MIT of the West Coast, or visa-versa, depending on how you look at it.Theo Huffmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11832438171790956528noreply@blogger.com
