This prevents "The method of Science" from being employed in its strictest sense, but at the same time it is an ideal for which I believe all magicians should strive.
This first series of articles covers various thoughts related to my model of magick an how it compares to others out there that are currently in use. While reading through it is not strictly necessary, I highly recommend it. What I do not recommend is waiting until you feel like you understand it all completely before you start doing any work. You should start learning to do the rituals I present here and practice them as soon as you can manage. And the fundamental weakness of the original "information model" of magick was that it confused semiotics and physics.

Original Basic Rituals
These are some alternatives that I have written to the standard basic ritual forms discussed above. They can make for interesting experimentation, but I recommend you learn the standard versions first before moving on to any of these.
Most of the magical orders of the past have initiatory systems that you must go through before you are given any practical material at all. Further down this page I have my Path of Initiation too, but as I see it you can be doing practical work right away. While you want to cultivate illumination and realization as you work, odds at that there are a lot of issues in your life that can get in the way. So start off by eliminating or at least mediating those.
The Magical Powers listed after the various attributes are Descriptive, Not Prescriptive. The powers listed here are from Aleister Crowley's Liber 777, but they should not be treated as all you can do with any of these magical forces. For example, in many cases elemental magick can be used to accomplish similar goals to planetary magick. Earth can correspond to wealth and material prosperity, Water can correspond to love and relationships, Air can correspond to healing, and Fire can correspond to cursing and protection from curses. These are all in addition to their listed powers.
The Elemental Work
To be clear, I am an OTO initiate but not a member of any of the current A.'.A.'. organizations, and the rituals here were developed by Comselh Ananael, my magical working group. I offer none of my own opinions here regarding any of the A.'.A.'. teachers who have publicly identified themselves as such, and I expect that what they teach their students differs substantially from what is presented here. Nonetheless, we found this approach to be quite effective, and I think you will too.
If you don't have a daily magical practice, you will want to have that established before starting any of these rites. Refer back to my articles in the Basic Practices section for what that should look like. You should keep this practice up basically forever, or at least for the rest of your life.
This article on Improving Solve et Coagula explains why I work the elemental initiations in the order that I do, based on research done by my magical working group. Going in "density order" rather than "reverse YHVH" order seems to lead to a more balanced and stable manifestation of the elements within the student's sphere of consciousness.
Note that it generally takes at least six months or so of practicing the Holy Guardian Angel Invocation ritual daily in order to obtain and stabilize K&C, so it is a substantial undertaking. More traditional grimoire magicians can go back to the source and work the full Abramelin operation on which Liber Samekh is based, but bear in mind that may take even longer. One version of the Abramelin runs for six months, but the other runs for a full eighteen.

Basic Practices
This article from 2006, this one from 2008, and this one from 2016 give an overview of what I recommend as an effective daily magical practice. Every magician should develop a sequence of basic rituals that he or she performs at least once per day, generally in the morning after waking up or at night before going to sleep. Which you prefer depends a lot on your personal circadian clock - I'm a total night owl and can't get anything done in the morning, so I do my practices at night before I go to sleep. Either should prove effective.The Basic Rituals
- The Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram. This simple rite is generally considered the most basic modern ceremonial ritual, and one of the first bits of magick that modern magicians learn. It is a microcosmic banishing and invoking ritual. That is, it works on your personal consciousness. The banishing form clears, stabilizes, and cuts away connections that may be influencing you. The invoking form energizes and empowers your sphere of consciousness. Note that this ritual does not "clear a space" beyond your body's natural aura, though some magicians incorrectly use it that way.
- The Lesser Ritual of the Hexagram. This ritual is the macrocosmic counterpart to the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram. That is, it works on space in the external world beyond your personal consciousness. The banishing form of this ritual is commonly taught as a daily practice, but I strongly recommend against it. You don't want to shut down or send the forces of nature away. To do effective practical magick, you want to connect with and manipulate them - which is what the invoking form of this ritual does. The banishing form can be used to clear a space, but when using in conjunction with the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram it shuts down everything. That can include your own currently running operations.
- The Middle Pillar Ritual. I don't teach most of Israel Regardie's methods, but the Middle Pillar Ritual is an exception. It brings energy work and identification with the divine into daily practice.
- Meditation should also be taken up by aspiring students of magick. There are a lot of variations on meditation practice out there, but most of them produce similar effects. The method here is based on the simple non-sectarian "Mindfulness Meditation" method. You should try to meditate for about twenty minutes a day, which is entirely sufficient for magical work.
- The Greater Ritual of the Pentagram. This is mostly an overview of how I do the Greater Ritual of the Pentagram, with some light commentary. I wrote it up because there is a lot of conflicting information online about how to do the Greater Pentagram along with other rituals like the "Supreme Pentagram" (which I don't use or teach) and so forth. This ritual can be used as part of a daily practice, especially as a preliminary to more involved HGA work. It also is used for practical elemental work.
- The Greater Ritual of the Hexagram. This is my overview of the Greater Ritual of the Hexagram, which is used to tune your magical space for working with planets and zodiac signs just like the Greater Ritual of the Pentagram tunes your space for working with elements.

- Lesser Versus Greater Pentagrams. This article was written to dispel a particularly pernicious myth about the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. Even though the pentagrams you are tracing are drawn in the same direction as Earth pentagrams, they are not exclusive to the element of Earth.
- Hacking the Elemental Hexagrams. This article digs into a speculative method for using the elemental hexagrams from the Lesser Ritual of the Hexagram to work with the four Qabalistic worlds. It was written in part as a response to what I consider the dubious practice of doing "Lesser Hexagrams of the Planets." "Lesser" rituals are general and "Greater" rituals are specific. Neither is a "better" or "worse" version of the other - they serve entirely different functions.
- The Operant Field. This is one of the ideas that started it all, and my own small contribution to modern magick theory. Understanding the microcosmic and macrocosmic natures of the Lesser Pentagram and Lesser Hexagram points to more effective ways to work with these rituals, both in terms of daily practice and larger ceremonial operations. Try it out - you'll be surprised how much better this small change makes everything work.
- Microcosmic Versus Macrocosmic Rituals. This is a longer and more detailed article discussing the operant field as defined in the preceding article, how Lesser rituals are general and Greater rituals are specific, and how to get at the microcosmic and macrocosmic aspects of the various magical forces.
- Goetic Circles and Operant Fields. This article looks at some overlap between the operant field model and the magick circle found in a late grimoire, the Lemegeton or Lesser Key of Solomon.
- Wrapping Up The "Hexagram Controversy". This article discusses the reaction of the online magical community towards the operant field model, and ends with a simple challenge: try it. If you try out the operant field method and it doesn't improve your results, by all means don't keep using it. At the same time, many magicians who have tried it report that their results are better overall, happen faster, and are stronger and more stable when they use it.
- Thoughts on the Star Ruby. This article is my explanation of Aleister Crowley's "new and more elaborate version of the Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram." This ritual can be used to open an operant field in conjunction with the Star Sapphire, just as the Lesser Banishing Ritual can do the same in conjunction with the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Hexagram.
- An Analysis of the Star Sapphire. This article is a comprehensive overview of my thoughts on the Star Sapphire, Aleister Crowley's "improved ritual of the hexagram." The Star Sapphire behaves a lot like a souped-up version of the Lesser Ritual of the Hexagram, and should be used in conjunction with the Star Ruby, Crowley's "improved ritual of the pentagram."
- Regarding Devotional Work. This article summarizes some devotional methods for use by magicians, particularly those found in Aleister Crowley's Liber Astarte vel Berylli. Devotional rituals that you find inspirational and resonant with your will can be an important addition to your practice.
- Thoughts on the Rose Cross Ritual. I do not personally use the Golden Dawn Rose Cross Ritual, but I did some experiments with it back in the day and some readers have asked about my take on it. In theory, the ritual works to smooth out and balance magical forces and fields, but so far I have not been able to figure out anything practical to do with it that I would be able to formally test. The idea that it "confers invisibility" does not seem to stand up to strict scrutiny, even though a lot of people apparently believe it.

So if you did a spell to accomplish something and added a limitation of "without injury to myself or my loved ones, or damage to my property" (which is a good generic one) a spell to protect you from injury won't contradict your charge in any way. It's already part of the charge that's running, so your new protection spell will harmonize with it just fine.
I found out that you can ask Angel to send negative current or energies back to senders !Like i did my charge (send back negative energy to sender if they attempt to negative influence or make me do something i do not like)to them.I call it circumfence.Like energy goes to my aura and make a circle and go back to them.
From then i feel some bad energy removal.I think it could work on energy vampires.
The return-to-sender spell is a classic. I have bunch of talismans that I have made over the years that do similar things. Anchoring this kind of operation in a talisman is particularly nice because it's an ongoing effect - anything negative sent at you just bounces back without you having to take any direct action.

What are the differences beetwen psychopats and sociopats?I know the mtyhs are that psychopats are cold because they brain can t feel empathy.
I have read that book, but never have done much work out of it. His system uses different attributions than the Thelemic system that I work with, and I see no practical reason to add a whole new set of correspondences. And yes, Bardon's claims do come off to me as a little exaggerated.
I'm a little unclear on what you're describing for the ritual there. I'm not sure I would try to call a Bardon spirit along with something from Agrippa or somethin Thelemic, because the systems are different. If you can make it work that's cool and all, but I would be concerned about some interference between the individual spirits, even if they all are attributed to the same planet.
Psychologists don't always agree on psychopath versus sociopath. The "official" definitions have flipped a couple of times and often what is being meant depends on who you are talking to. Basically, they're both terms that can refer to someone with what is officially called Antisocial Personality Disorder.

In Initiation into Earth what is a symbol of Earth being traced above the cup?
After initiation into Earth do i pour offering from cup right away outdoors somewhere in park or earth?
I have not worked with this Bardon spirit so I am not really in a position to tell you how well this will work. You are combining a number of different components from disparate systems and, while your attributions sound consistent, I can see a couple possible issues with what it sounds like you are trying to do.
You have the Trithemian table, which is from a different system than Bardon's, and I am also not sure if that is how the Bardon spirit fits in the spiritual hierarchy. Remember that "Spirit" and "Intelligence" are really only distinct in the Agrippa planetary system. Just because something is called a "spirit" by a different author doesn't necessarily mean it would be ruled by an Agrippa Intelligence, or even in the same hierarchy as one.
Let me know how it goes, but if it doesn't work one of my reservations up there is probably the case. It's hard for me to "check your work" when you are trying to integrate things that I haven't worked with. Maybe it will work great, but I haven't experimented with anything similar myself so I just don't know.
In the Earth initiation the symbol should be the regular alchemical symbol for Earth, an inverted triangle with a horizontal line across the center.
Yes, one way to properly dispose of the offering is to pour it from the cup somewhere outdoors. You don't necessarily need to do it right away, just whenever it's convenient for you. You can also put it somewhere in the temple and allow it to evaporate on its own.

Hello, I was wondering if there were possibly servitors manifested against me (goetia related) would using the Virgo(mercury) GBRH work? because I might have a few, some attached to multiple spheres of my being. Exorcism and methods have not worked and I wish to not get them removed via astral projection as that could possibly be the only other way besides magick, I have done every ritual (LRP,SRP, RC) and nothing seems to help. They are maybe connected energetically to my aura, blocking my chakras as well, would you possibly know a remedy?

When performing a Lesser Invoking Ritual of Mars, do you call the Planetary Intelligence (Graphiel)?
If you have tried a bunch of other things, the GBRH of anything is not likely to work. The banishing rituals in basically work in the moment - they don't provide any ongoing protection. So if something is attached to you, they can break the connection, but there are a lot of ways to do that and if the other ways aren't working, they don't work any better. If other methods for severing the connection aren't working, the servitor is likely smart enough to reattach if its connection is cut.
A good way to test this for sure would be to do the LBRP/LBRH combination every day for a week, at least once a day. More is better. If you still don't see a change, you're dealing with something that can't just be cut off. If that's the case, you need to deal with it more skillfully. Are you thinking that this servitor is related to Virgo or Mercury? If so, conjure a spirit of Virgo or Mercury and charge that spirit to empower a talisman to keep said servitor from affecting you. A talisman like that will create a permanent magical effect that will prevent whatever it is from reattaching.
In the Thelemic tradition a Lesser Invoking Ritual of Mars is not a thing. The Lesser rituals are general and the Greater rituals are specific. So only a Greater ritual would be attributed to Mars. The structure for that would be something like LBRP/LIRH/GIRH-Mars.
With that ritual you can summon the angels of Mars and also the intelligence and spirit, depending on what you are doing. So Kamael (sephiroth angel), Zamael (path angel), Graphiel (intelligence), Bartzabel (spirit).
How would I Consecrate the Sword?
Is it consecrate to Mars or Geburah?
The ritual I found has the practitioner charge the Space with Geburah (GRH of Geburah) and then has the then use the sword to perform a LIRH of Mars as part of the consecration process. Thanks.
You can do a couple of different things to consecrate a sword.
(1) You can conjure Melchiadel, the angel of Aries, who rules the power of consecrating things. Melchiadel can consecrate anything to anything.
(2) You can consecrate the sword to Geburah by conjuring Kamael, if you want the wand to enhance mystical operations associated with Mars (the vision of power).
(3) You can consecrate the sword to the path of Mars (Peh) by conjuring Zamael, if you want the wand to enhance practical operations associated with Mars (works of wrath and vengeance, and/or protection from same).
If you want both (2) and (3), do separate rituals or go with (1) and build it into the charge.
If you are going to do an invoking hexagram ritual for Mars as part of your consecration, the way I do it that should always be the GIRH for Mars. Greater rituals are attributed to specific elements, planets, and signs. "Greater" rituals are not souped-up "Lesser" rituals or vice-versa. The two classes are used for entirely different things.
So in the Thelemic system there is no "LIRH of Mars." I know that's a modern Golden Dawn thing that some people do, but since the "Lesser" rituals are designed to be general or foundational, to my way of thinking attributing the LRH to any specific planet makes no sense and I don't use it that way.

Yes, that is how I would go about it. I believe there is also a traditional GD ritual to consecrate the Lotus Wand, but I'm not that familiar with it.
The Published instructions for the Traditional Ritual for charging a Lotus Wand have always seemed incomplete, or even a little off, to me. The instructions are, in brief: Perform the Opening by Watchtower, Imagine that you are standing on the face of a Clock. Turn to each "Number" on the Clock and petition the corresponding force with spoken words only). The ritual instructions do not say to use any Sigils, Hexagrams, etc. Here is the one given for Aries in both Modern Magick and Israel Regardie's 'The Golden Dawn':
"The heaven is above and the Earth is beneath. Between the
light and the dark do vibrate the colors of life. I supplicate
the powers and forces governing the nature, place and
authority of the sign ARIES, by the majesty of the divine
name YUD HEH VAHV HEH, with which, in Earth life and language, I ascribe the letter HEH to which is allotted the symbolic tribe of GAD and over which is the angel MELCHIDAEL, to bestow this present day and hour, and confirm their mystic and potent influence upon the RED band of this Rainbow Wand (or Lotus Wand in Regardie's book), which I hereby dedicate to purity and to occult work. The Ritualist is then instructed to wait a short time, then move onto the next color on the Wand and 'Station' on the Imaginary Clock in the Circle and repeat the Petition for the next set of forces. The forces being worked with are never summoned with the appropriate Hexagram, Sigil, etc.
Also, having them ALL present in the Circle (assuming that they are actually there, under these circumstances), seems very chaotic, and even contradictory, to me.
I'm thinking that it would be better to perform separate rituals, for Astrological Force, using the appropriate Hexagram and Sigils, etc.

Yeah, Melchiadel can consecrate the whole thing. You can walk through the signs for each band in your charge, like:
1. Consecrate the red band to Aries.
2. Consecrate the red-orange band to Taurus.
3. Consecrate the orange band to Gemini.
4. Consecrate the amber band to Cancer.
And so forth, going through all 12 signs. You can have Melchiadel do all of those, and once that's done each band should be attributed correctly.
Or you can do separate rituals, if that makes more sense to you, for each of the signs.

However, it is possible that something was left out of Regardie's version, which was later used by Kraig (?). My intention is to create separate rituals for each color, for now. Later, I will make a ritual for doing all the colors at once, through Melchidael.
Sounds good. It is hard to say how the ritual was changed by multiple authors. My understanding is that Regardie wrote the Opening by Watchtower based on the GD Portal initiation ritual, and then Kraig played fast and loose with some of the Regardie material.
I expect that the various versions are all usable, though I did find through experimentation that LBRP/LBRH/Opening by Watchtower appears to be no more effective than LBRP/LIRH - at least the way I do them. I also did some tweaking on the OBW to see if I could make it more effective, but to no avail.
In my experience it feels like a lot more is going on when you use the OBW, but when you compare the actual probability shifts produced you don't get any improvement over LBRP/LIRH no matter how you try to adjust it. Not everybody agrees with me on that, though, so as usual I recommend you do the work and see for yourself.

The correct spelling of the name is in Hebrew, so when I write it as YHVH I am transliterating it into my language too. It shouldn't matter how you transliterate it, since the gematria is also derived from the Hebrew spelling. The pronunciation doesn't have to be precise - different teachers pronounce them different ways and they still seem to work as long as the name is recognizable.
And yes, you can do the elixir rituals whenever you want. When I talk about the idea of there being prerequisites while going through the initiatory rites, that's really just to keep that initiatory path clear of confusion. You can do any of my rituals any time you want and probably get decent results. It's just that you may want to limit your practical work to elemental magick while working on the elements, planetary magick while working on the planets, and so forth.
Otherwise there aren't any restrictions, and even those recommendations for the initiatory work are guidelines, not requirements.

First off - nothing you are talking about here is all that easy to do. It sounds a little like something out of a horror movie, and in that genre really advanced magick is generally treated as easy to do or even possible to do accidentally. In the real world, it's not like that.
But as for your question, you can't use the LRP to bind anything besides aspects of your psyche, and you probably wouldn't want to do that. If you aren't also using the Lesser Ritual of the Hexagram, you are working with strictly microcosmic forces. So that's one point.
Conjurations usually do work better in general. Think of conjuring a spirit like working with a consultant who is an expert at what you are trying to do. Intelligent spirits know a lot about whatever force or quality they are attributed to, which means you don't necessarily need to work out exactly how something gets done. You can just use a charge with injunction and limitations that specify what you want to happen.
This might sound like too much of no-brainer, but a spirit that is composed of particular forces is going to be vulnerable to spirits that rule over those same forces. So if you are dealing with an entity composed of Water and Earth, you can conjure the King of Water (Niksa) and/or the King of Air (Paralda). Those two Kings can both create and destroy entities composed of their elements. You could use Saturn to bind it, but I think the elemental Kings will have more luck getting rid of it.
I might not be 100% sure what you mean by "Goetic Servitor." If you are referring to one of the demons of the Lemegaton's Goetia, those spirits have attributions too. I'm not a Goetia expert, but there are goetic magicians who claim to get good results using Rudd's method of restraining them using the corresponding angel derived from the 72-fold Name of God (Shem Ha-Mephorash), also called "Shem angels."
Goetic spirits are also attributed to planets and signs of the zodiac. So both zodiacal and planetary angels could prove effective to deal with them as long as you have the right planet and/or sign.
To generally disempower a servitor, you can use Saturn (works of malediction and death) to basically kill it. You could also call on Aries, which rules consecration, to de-consecrate whatever is sustaining it. How easy this is generally depends on the skill of the caster, but one thing to keep in mind is that highly skilled magicians rarely just mess with people. We usually have better things to do.
As for "lingering above kether" - Kether is the sephira in which all unifies in the One Thing. There's no way anything could "linger" above that. If you are talking about someone's crown chackra, which can be attributed to Kether, all of the methods I discuss above will work.
Generally speaking, I recommend doing magick to actually destroy any such harmful spirit/servitor rather than trying to bind it or contain it. Bindings and the like often turn out to be more difficult, and even then they don't always solve the problem.

Yes, in the Thelemic system that is how you would work with sephiroth. The Thelemic system doesn't make use of "lesser hexagrams of the planets" at all.

Yes, you can do it astrally, as explained in the second section of the ritual. While I can't say for sure you will get quite the same effect as doing at least the first half physically, Crowley's instructions are clear that astral performance of it can be effective.
If you can memorize the Bornless One and be able to recite it by heart then I don't see why you couldn't do it that way. Back when I added it to my daily practice I started to memorize bits of it unintentionally and at some point I was able to recite it whole in my mind. I usually had a hard time falling asleep for as long as I remember so I started reciting it in my mind while I was in bed too, hoping it'll tire my mind enough it'll pass out so to speak. Which it did most of the time. I did manage to recite it fully a few times and I felt quite a powerful effect just by doing that. But keep in mind I was focusing on it as much as possible in order to tire my mind so that must've also added extra oomph when it comes to the end result.

Yes, you can do multiple conjurations over the course of a week. There is nothing special about that particular unit of time. There are some considerations, though. As long as you are anchoring your operations to talismans, so they don't draw from your total magical power, you're fine. Otherwise, if you are just casting without anchoring, the ongoing operations that you have will dilute the power you have available because it gets divided up among them. Another way to avoid that issue would be to do multiple operations in a week with short time limits, like one or two days. When the limit is reached the operation stops, so it won't continue to draw power.
I haven't done a lot of work with the Shem angels, at least not enough to be an authority on them. Same with Goetia - I do Enochian, but the two systems have nothing to do with each other.
I'm not sure what you mean by "binding the seven sins" or what that would even look like. As a Thelemite, I don't really believe in the Christian idea of sin in the first place, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. If you're talking about something like mediating or eliminating negative qualities associated with the seven planets (which is about the closest thing I can think of) you would do operations for all seven of the ancient planets, charge the spirits with mediating or eliminating the quality you want to "bind," and probably anchor into talismans for ongoing effect. As for materials, you would use a metal or type of stone appropriate to the planet for each of your operations.
I haven't heard of any other "restraining" method besides Rudd's, and I have to say that I'm not sure anything like that is even necessary. Rudd is the guy who tried to combine Enochian and Goetia, and that's just a bad idea. It's not clear to me that his Shem angel restraining method is any better - but again, I wouldn't say I have enough experience with the system to state that definitively. You probably want to ask that question of someone who has more experience with Goetic entities.

I have not heard of a specific term for what you are talking about. However, the ability to do tasks well can be affected by a number of spiritual factors - astrological conditions being a big one. A hard negative aspect to a planet in your natal chart associated with whatever the task is, for example, can result in you doing the task poorly regardless of skill.
Stress and anxiety play a big role in that too, whether there's anything spiritual to it or not. A stressed anxious person almost always performs worse than someone who is confident and relaxed in the same situation.
I'm working with the "A Ka Dua" Egyptian Invocation to use immediately following my Adorations of Ra and also those of Khonsu. I found one version that uses the Sign of the Enterer followed by the Sign of Osiris Risen...and many sources that don't list any Signs at all. How would you recommend performing this rite in the context I mentioned here, please? Thanks.
Where you actually see that invocation most commonly in Thelemic magick is in the Gnostic Mass. where no signs corresponding to it are given. So that probably is why you see versions without them. In Liber Resh you use the Sign of the Enterer followed by the "sign of one's grade" and I have seen versions that use Osiris Risen as representing the LVX signs for Adeptus Minor. The other version I have seen uses the elemental sign for the direction following the Enterer, which would be Air (Shu) in the east.
So I would say that Osiris Risen sounds like a logical choice for adoration signs. It lines up with at one version of Liber Resh that I have seen, which includes adoration of Ra in the morning.
I think that D.M.K. and Aleister Crowley use the Liber Resh very differently and a different approach is required, depending on the desired result.
Crowley seems to have used Liber Resh to attune to the Sun, but not the Elements.
D.M.K. used it to attune to the Elements as the main Focus, but the Sun as a Secondary focus.
The exercises that D.M.K. put into Modern Magick seem to have originated in a System called Initiation Into Hermetics by Franz Bardon (IIH). He doesn't list this source, however. One example is 'becoming a cloud' in one's mind and then bringing in the element of Fire, replacing it. The end result is the destruction of the cloud by dispersing the condensed water vapor.
I have tried adding the A Ka Dua ritual in its various forms. All of them are beautiful rituals. However, in practice, they also seem to 'short circuit' the flow of energy needed to make the elemental exercises from Franz Bardon's System work properly.
Does Thelema work with the elements in a manner similar to Bardon's, or is this system intended to work with them through the Greater Rituals of the Pentagram, only?
One experiment that I did, that did have good results, was when I noticed that my IIH based Elemental Magick was 'short circuited', I performed the Greater Fire Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram and Middle Pillar Ritual, then immediately repeated my cloud incinerating exercise from IIH. The result was that manifestation occurred almost immediately and the intended could was dispersed/vanished in under a minute.
The Kraig version of Liber Resh is not even Liber Resh - it's a Liber-Resh-Like practice that doesn't actually conform to Crowley's ritual. So I'm not at all surprised that it's used differently. The elements should not be the focus - Resh literally is the path of the Sun. The giving of elemental grade signs is sometimes done by Thelemites for the four quarters, but the focus is still the Sun. The actual ritual says you give "the sign of your grade" in A.'.A.'., and some OTO initiates use their degree signs in place of the elemental ones.
Regarding elements, Thelema is not intended to work through the Greater Ritual of the Pentagram only. My general rule here holds up - if you ask about anything in magick being "only" the answer is always no. The GRP is an effective way to work with elements, but it's not the only one.
Bardon's exercises are almost entirely based on energy work and visualization, and don't necessarily have any ceremonial components. So it's not clear if adding stuff like that even works, and this is an interesting data point that for you they seem to short-circuit some of the effects.
Basically Bardon is doing something a lot like Qigong with the energies visualized as specifically corresponding to the Western elements instead of Heaven/Earth like you see in the actual Chinese system. So I'm also not surprised to see the GRP/Middle Pillar turn it back on. You might be able to simplify that further using a specific Middle Pillar version with the godname for Fire (Elohim) at all the sephirothic points. I talk about that a bit in my Middle Pillar video.
But you do have to understand that Thelema, the Golden Dawn, Kraig, and Bardon are all different systems to varying degrees. You need to do this sort of testing before you try integrating components together, like you're doing, and you are going to find that some combinations just don't work.
When i do LBRH what happens with outgoing realistic operations ?
I guess they are shutted down but when i do LIRH again wil the "gears" started turning again or do i need to cast new operation for the same goal?

It has not been my experience that the LBRH can "pause" operations like you are proposing here. If you do LBRH/LIRH, they generally shut down.
Thinking about your previous question, it did occur to me that what would probably work is just dropping the LRH for a few days and go with LBRP only. That would more strongly separate your sphere of sensation from the ongoing operations, and at the same time do nothing to mess with them.
Planetary hours are in my opinion a surviving vestige of calculating chart victors. The idea is that you want the best chance for your operation to have a chart victor that matches the planet or is harmonious with the sign you are working with, and the days/hours are just one factor that goes into that. Another is the prenatal lunation, which corresponds to whether you are working with a waxing or waning Moon. Then it take into account Sun position, Moon position, and a bunch of other factors.
So my opinion is that you don't really "mix energies" by working with hours different from the day, you just dilute what you're doing and there's no reason to do it deliberately. The one exception is in the Heptarchia Mystica, because the Princes have different planetary aspects for their corresponding days. For them, my interpretation is that he best time is on the day and then in the hour they are attributed to, rather than the hour matching the day - which is best for the Kings.

You can use my Enochian pentagram and hexagram rituals without the full temple setup. You might want to wear the ring, or improvise one in some manner, but that would be it. You don't need the Holy Table, Sigillum, and so forth.
My focus in all of my Enochian books is practical work. There are already plenty of other books on the marked about scrying and so forth. I like being able to get stuff done.
I haven't experienced anything like that with the revised Opening by Watchtower so I'm not sure what it means. Honestly, I don't use that ritual very much myself. It's mostly included as an option for people who like working with the Opening by Watchtower method.

Both of those are good - a Mercury operation for safe travel and relocation and Jupiter to find work. You would want to do two separate operations, but for focus and because Mercury and Jupiter are very different energies.
The angels of transportation would be a way to do the same thing as the Mercury operation. I'm not sure they would necessarily be any more effective for what you are trying to do here than the Mercury entities would be.

That depends on the Enochian angels you are talking about, though. The Angels of Transportation are little ways down the hierarchy from, for example, the Kings and Seniors or the Heptarchial Kings and Princes. I would say that those more powerful than the traditional planetary entities, but it's not necessarily the case for the sub-quadrant angels.
I guess it s because Enochian Angels are called like a group.

Enochian entities work just like other kinds of entities in most ways. They draw power the same way, and if you optimize astrological conditions you will get better results from your operations.
If you call Enochian Entities and Planetary for same goal and of course different timelines can there be disc hronities for operation ?

As long as you call them in separate operations you should be fine. If you want to make double sure, add a limitation to the charge for both rituals specifying that they won't conflict with each other.
Is the Elevenfold Ritual(full) good for balancing the underworld and higher energies.
I watched a talk and one man said that when doing rite like LBRP you bring higher energies to you and balance it and when doing Inverted Pentagram you bring underworld energise to your consiusness and balance it?
It is good for balancing your energies in general. If you are looking at in a pure energy work context, you do have the motion of Heaven and Earth qi moving through the body along the spiritual channel, and those forces are balanced by rituals like the Elevenfold Seal. How that maps to celestial versus chthonic spiritual energies, though, isn't something everyone agrees on.
I'm a Thelemite and Crowley had a completely different take on the inverted pentagram than what whoever you saw was talking about. In the Thelemic system, the upright pentagram represents the dominion of spirit over matter and the inverted pentagram represents the descent of spirit into matter. For example, in Liber Reguli you see the use of inverted elemental pentagrams along with the Thelemic godnames, and it has nothing to do with "underworld energies." The point is to "call down" the vision of the Holy Guardian Angel from the more spiritual realms.
That doesn't mean other systems couldn't have a different take on it, though. I will say that as far as I can tell, the way Crowley conceptualized it works for me.

(1) That is basically correct. If you do a spell for something and somebody else doesn't, the odds will favor you more than they favor the other person. You as a spellcaster should come out ahead more often than chance with all things being equal.
(2) Yes, if you make a talisman it is created under the astrological conditions when it was made and that determines its strength, regardless of what the planet does down the line. It's not really an "anchor," just a power level - at least using the ceremonial methods that I post about here. From Alex was saying, it sounds like other methods might "lock in" the full election depending on how the talisman is made, but I have less experience working with those.
Yea several planetary forces can be locked inside the same talisman at once, but getting them to relate to each other in ways that would benefit the user can be a very long wait. Not to mention a huge headache one can suffer having to come across such an event :)
But even so, I think it would be best if magicians would have at least the minimum knowledge of such things and make use of it instead of chastizing others over dogmas only they care about.

With the ceremonial methods here I have never seen a reversed result. The condition of the planet only determines how strong the effect will be. With a bad election it won't cause problems in areas related to the planet, it just won't do much of anything - almost as if you did no operation at all.
This is true generally when using explicit charges. If your charge is "make me better at this language," the operation can't make you worse at it because you charged it to make you better. But if the election is bad, it might not make you much better - so you can wind up wasting your time if you are casting against a bad election.

You should look at the condition of the planet ruling the sign, wherever it is. So for Libra, ruled by Venus, Venus would be in its rulership in Libra or Taurus. Either is the best "rulership" position. Venus is exalted in Pisces, which is also good. But Venus would be in detriment if it were in Aries or Scorpio, and in fall if it's in Virgo. Those three are bad positions. In any other sign, Venus is neutral because it is neither dignified nor debilitated.
But that's just one level. You also want to look at things like the chart victor and simple electional timing using final Moon aspects, both of which I have articles on. Astrology is complex, and to use it effectively does require some study. And like I said, you can make things work even if you aren't following the astrology closely, just less reliably. If you happen to hit bad astrological "weather" it can seriously impede your operation.
When doing Liber Samekh could you invoke Pentagrams from GRP in-ritual,for example after doing the Section A Oath and before doing Air section you do Invoking Spirit Pentagram then Invoking Air Pentagram then the corssponding God-Form and then recite the Air Section and so forth until Spirit section F and from there you go like usual?(Don t know is it supposed to be that way)

1. Yes, that is how you are supposed to do it. From Crowley's commentary, in the elemental section you are to travel around the circle "making the appropriate pentagrams, sigils, and signs." So I do that with the pentagrams from the GRP.
2. Probably. Capricorn rules over energy work in general, so that would fall under its sphere of influence. I haven't tried that exact thing myself, but it makes sense.

It is entirely possible that an archangel could do that, though they won't necessarily. It depends on the situation and what the archangel decides to do.
The big thing that you want to avoid is ruminating or obsessing over whether your ritual is going to work or not. You can certainly do rituals for things you really want, and you don't to go full-chaos-magick and try to forget your operations. But when you fix your attention on something you've cast, especially over a significant period of time, you run the risk of messing it up. It's okay to think about operations that are ongoing, but you want to keep your attention on them light - if that makes sense.

Crowley was once asked directly in one of his court cases why he called himself The Beast 666. His response was the rather humorous "It only means the Sun. You can call me Little Sunshine." But he wasn't just being flippant - 666 is the magical number of the Sun (calculated by summing the numbers from 1-36 in the solar magic square) and he saw The Beast as a solar figure - "Be ever a Sun, and she a Moon" is the quote in The Book of the Law.
Every religion has antecedents and Thelema is no exception. Christianity separated from Judaism by reframing the concept of the Messiah. Thelema's direct ancestor is the esoteric Christianity of the Golden Dawn, and it separates itself from Christianity by dramatically reframing the meaning of the Book of Revelation. Crowley believed he fulfilled the Book of Revelation as he reinterpreted it, but that reinterpretation is dramatically different from the end-of-the-world nonsense that Evangelicals throw around. Thelema views it more as a poetic description of a personal path to initiation and enlightenment that culminates with the Magus "speaking their word" and so forth.
In fact, that whole Evangelical schema with The Rapture and so forth only dates back to the middle of the nineteenth century and is based on the work of William Miller, a failed prophet if there ever was one. But I digress.
Thelema can't really be totally new if it's going to exist in the context of overall Western esoteric tradition. There's all sorts of stuff in Thelema that's older - correspondences from Agrippa are all over Liber 777. The Enochian material likewise is based on Renaissance sources (and both those sources were Christian). So it's not completely new - it reinterprets older sources.
I do generally use the Elevenfold Seal rather than the Middle Pillar in my personal work, mostly because it calls on the Thelemic godnames rather than the Qabalistic ones. Therion (the beast) and Babalon correspond to the Thelemic idea of the "cosmic couple" that represents the activities of the more abstract deities (Nuit, Hadit, Ra-Hoor-Khuit) acting in the world of manifestation. I know that's kind of vague, but to really flesh it out I would have to go through the whole cosmology point by point (and that would only be my interpretation - Thelema is intentionally anti-dogma).

I have been reading several articles on your website (which I discovered thanks to Alex Scaraoschi) for a couple of days. I must say that I am hooked on the information you share, I thank you infinitely.
I have understood that my magical potential is reduced if I perform several operations at the same time and anchor them all to my consciousness. I have also understood that I can do the same ritual (with the same goal or request) for many days without reducing my potential (because it is actually the same operation done several times).
My question is, if I am doing several operations at the same time and in a ritual I make a talisman so that my magical potential is not reduced, at the end of the ritual, would it be best to close with a LBPR so that nothing remains anchored to my consciousness that could take away my magical potential? Is that so?
Another question: would the typical talismans of the Golden Dawn printed on paper work? Or if I am doing a practical work with the Angel of a path and the talismans of the Golden Dawn appear the name of an Archangel of the sephira, would it be better to do my own talisman?

That is correct. Whenever you make a talisman, you close with the LBRP (or Star Ruby) to disconnect the talisman from your sphere of consciousness.
The Golden Dawn talisman designs are fine. You don't necessarily need to create your own new designs or anything like that. However, paper is less durable than stones or metals, so you will probably find that paper talismans won't last as long. They can be just as powerful in probability terms, but they have a much more limited lifespan.
So the takeaway there is that if you are doing a talisman for a relatively short-term goal (a couple weeks to a month or so) paper is fine. But for longer than that, you will get better results with stones or metals.
Cool! The time I want the talisman to last seems to me a perfect criterion to evaluate which material to use.

Here's a good trick I've been using with paper talismans:
You do the ritual as usual, inscribe the talisman and empower it with the help of the spirits. You tell the spirits to empower the talisman so that from then on it will act on yourself (or another, depending on the goals) and you place a link to yourself (or the other person) on top of the talisman right before you you give them the command. After the ritual (and after the candle and incense are consumed) you take the paper talisman alongside the link and you place it in between two pieces of trick cardboard which you then tape around tightly. Then you can leave the talisman somewhere around the house without worrying it will get damaged. Of course, you can wrap the whole thing in cloth or bubble wrap and so on to make it as damage resistant as possible, but only after wrapping it in between cardboard pieces.

Sorry if I'm annoying and ask a lot of questions, but I want to make sure that I have clear concepts when organizing my magical work.
If I do a macrocosmic ritual without a talisman and I close with the LBPR, I understand that I unlink the energies of my consciousness so that they act in the macrocosm, but then, where is the operation anchored? Wouldn't this operation lack anchorage? Would doing the LBPR at the end of a ritual would be a way to unpin the operation from my consciousness and thus not consume part of my magical potential and leave everything exclusively in the hands of the energy of the spirits invoked? Or the LBPR does not unpin magical work from consciousness? If it does unpin from consciousness, is it in these cases (in which one works without a talisman) that it is preferable to close with a Kabbalistic Cross to also use part of our magical potential? If so, could it be said that as long as the operation is not anchored to a talisman, it is better to close with a Kabbalistic Cross so that the operation is well anchored in consciousness and so we use part of our magical potential (or with a LBPR if we do not want to anchor the operation to our conscience and that, although it is weaker, it does not consume part of our magical potential and only consumes the energy of the spirits)?
Assuming that the LBPR does unpin magical operations from consciousness, by doing it every morning, wouldn't it affect the operation that is anchored to my consciousness if it isn't also anchored in a talisman? Perhaps while magical operations are underway, it would be better to do the LIPR to energize the works anchored in consciousness?
On the other hand, if I do a LBPR and a LBHR will it also affect the talismans that I have working, or is it necessary to do a specific ritual for that?
And, when wrapping the talismans, is there any fabric that is more recommended? In some book on animal magnetism I read that silk acts as a kind of shield for that type of energy.

I get that you are trying to logically work this out, but what I am telling you is how it works. Nobody is quite sure how it works precisely. We would need an experimentally verified model that makes correct predictions to figure that out.
The "anchoring" works different than linking - again, not sure how or why, but it does. Everything you send out will be anchored somewhere, and if you don't use something external for that - and specify it in your charge - it will use your sphere of sensation, whether you close with a Qabalistic Cross or LBRP. The magical link is separate from this - it is either something like an image of your target (similarity link), something that was in contact with your target (contagion link), or both.
The LBRP at the end of talismanic operations or operations you do not want linked to you is not done to affect the anchoring, it's done to affect the linking. Linking a talisman directly to yourself means that stuff happening in your sphere of sensation can affect the talisman, which you generally don't want. If you use a trick like what Alex is talking about - a link to yourself - this mediates the issue somewhat. Again, not sure exactly why.
So LBRP done daily doesn't affect ongoing operations because it doesn't affect anchoring. But it will sever unwanted links to your sphere of sensation that you may have accumulated.
LBRP/LBRH can damage or disenchant a talisman. Remember, though, that it works within a field - basically your magical working space. Anything object outside that field won't be affected. So if you have a temple with a magic circle, for example, it will only affect objects inside the circle. Putting things away in cabinets or boxes also works, as does wrapping talismans in cloth as long as they are completely covered.
Any kind of fabric will work as long as it covers the talisman. Silk is traditional, but I believe it was used based on how silk reacts to static electricity. Electricity doesn't have anything special to do with magick, but back in the day it was thought that there might be a connection.

I have some doubts related to talismans that I write here.
If I make a talisman by simply attending to its planetary day and hour, without attending to the astrological conditions, can it be achieved by repeatedly charging the talisman that it ends up being powerful? To do that recharge, would I have to repeat the entire ritual or is there a quick way to charge a talisman that is already done? In other words: through the repetition of the charging ritual of the talisman (or by other means that do not require doing a complete ritual) is it possible to supply the ignorance of the astrological conditions?
And if I make a talisman on a day that is not very favorable astrologically but, perhaps weeks or months later, when astrological conditions are optimal, I perform a ritual to charge it again, will it be as powerful as if I had made it that day?
Finally, is it really necessary to charge the talismans so that they don't stop working? If so, how often would it be appropriate to do so?

You can create a talisman using multiple rituals if you set it up that way from the start. So, for example, you could create a planetary talisman by doing the charging ritual once per day in the appropriate hour. There should be some acknowledgement of that in the charge, like charging the spirit to empower the talisman over the course of seven days or something like that. You will need to repeat the full ritual for those subsequent days.
This is NOT an ad hoc process. If you enchant it with one ritual, then decide you want to do another one later, it's like starting over.
And really, this seven-day version might not work a whole lot better than selecting the best astrological condition during the proper hour on one of your seven days. Going through it the "long way" seems to me like a lot of extra work.
When you redo the ritual, it's like starting over. So the talisman will run based on the original time until you redo the ritual, and then it will run based on the new (presumably better) time. Remember, though, if you create a talisman to do something long-term, when you recast it anything that is in motion at the time gets reset back to zero. That's not necessarily an issue for something like a general protection or prosperity talisman, but it could be a factor if you created a talisman to accomplish a long-term goal.
You can make offerings to talismans or direct energy their way during your daily practice to "feed" them, which will help them last longer. Stone and metal last the longest, as I mentioned above. They should run for at least a couple of years, and run longer than that if you actively send energy their way on a regular basis.

My problem is that I'm still learning the basics of astrology, that's why I was looking for a method to create powerful talismans without paying attention to astrological conditions.
I understand that it is better to make the talisman with the optimal astrological conditions but, as I believe (maybe I am wrong), to make a talisman it is desirable that the planet be in its domicile sign or exalted sign. But Saturn, for example, is 2 1/2 years in each sign and takes 29 years to make a complete revolution. If I need a Saturn talisman, would I have to wait several years for the planet to reach its sign of domicile or exaltation? How to proceed in that case?
I understand that it is very likely that I am missing important information on this, and that there are many other factors to consider when looking for an optimal time to make a talisman. But I don't want to abuse your generosity, so perhaps the best thing would be to read a book that explains the subject of astrology of talismans well, could you recommend me one please?
Perhaps also some article of yours deepens in this topic. I have read “Simple Electional Timing”, is there any other article that can help me?

So to be clear on this, because not a lot of people are. I was making effective talismans for years before I knew as much about astrology as I do now. I just worked with the planetary days and hours, and my talismans usually worked.
Poor astrological conditions weaken any magick done under them, and good astrological conditions strengthen magick done under them. From some of my conversations with Alex, who does a lot of astrological magick, the ceremonial methods I promote here seem to have the advantage that they don't "pick up" negative astrological conditions because the talismans created with them have specific, explicit charges.
When you give a talisman an explicit charge, the only thing the talisman can do is execute the charge. It can't create opposite effects or set off anything related to the astrological condition of the planet. A badly aspected planet just results in a weaker talisman. You usually get an effect, just not the best and most optimal effect. Sometimes that still works fine.
It sounds like from what I've seen online this isn't necessarily the case with methods like the science of images technique from the Picatrix, for example. Those talismans depend heavily on astrological elections and pretty much encode the entire election into the talisman. Those can potentially stir up anything in the chart for the operation.
Books on astrological magick are generally pretty bad, to tell you the truth. Most of us learned by doing and exchanging information over the years. One book that has good material - if you can stand the writing style, which I find pretty annoying - is Astrological Magick by Estelle Daniels. Estelle is a local, and in fact I learned the simple electional method in my article from her. I don't happen to like her writing voice, but the material itself is good.

The Elevenfold Seal was written before the Middle Pillar Ritual, so in that sense the Middle Pillar might be thought of as Regardie's version of the Middle Pillar. I definitely use it the same way.

I have noticed that in many books they confuse the sefirotic hierarchies with the planetary ones. Let me explain: Tzaphqiel (Sefirot) is not the same as Kassiel (Saturn). Most of the books I have consulted use Tzaphqiel. What surprises me is that it works or is reported to work with both versions in a planetary rite. I think both options work because intelligence is smart enough to notice what's going on and it works. But what should not be wrong is the name of intelligence and spirit. Really in your blog they are perfect, but I am surprised that cases with good results are reported using the wrong name. In general, in the books the intelligences and spirits are correct.

I have posted on this very topic many times. As far as I can see online, I am one of the few teachers who makes this distinction, and I do it based on my own experimental work. I pretty much think that the Sephirothic names can still work for practical powers, and I got pretty good results with that method for years before teasing out the path/sephira difference with godnames and so forth.
The sephirothic angels are extremely intelligent, and I think my conclusion is the same as to why they still work. They're smart enough to know what you want, and can send the energies to the right place. They also have a connection with the intelligences and spirits, which you can call with sephirothic names for mystical visions and path names for practical powers. Using that method gives you the best results, but remember that, for example, the intelligence and spirit of Jupiter are linked to Tzadkiel by sephira and to Sachiel by path. So either can be used as a godname to conjure the intelligence and spirit of Jupiter. Same is true of Tzaphkiel and Kassiel for the intelligence and spirit of Saturn.
So they aren't "wrong" exactly. They just don't map one-to-one, like I mentioned in the other comment I posted today. You'll just get yourself all confused it you try to treat them that way because attributions are more complex than that.

I have heard of that sort of magick but never practiced it. Nothing about it sounds remotely appealing to me.
But generally speaking, magicians getting "fried" by magical work is not a real thing. There's a lot of folklore around the idea but it seems massively exaggerated and sometimes entirely made up. Usually when a spell goes wrong the only result is that nothing happens.

Hello! Has anyone had experience with the operant field and the pentacles of Solomon? My idea is to make the sequence of any planet and in the declaration of intent ask the planet to consecrate said talisman. My doubt: Would it also include the spirit? Thanks.
For example I plan to use this: The sixth pentacle of Mars. It has such a virtue that being armed with it, if you are attacked by someone you will not be hurt when you fight and his own weapons will turn against him.
Around the eight points of the radius of the Pentacle are the words "Elohim qeber, Elohim has protected", written in the secret alphabet of Malachi, or the writing of the angels. The verse is from Psalm 37; 15: "His sword will enter his own heart and his bows will be broken."

You can use the operant field with any form of magick that you like. Just add it to the opening and close with a final LBRP when you are making a talisman.
You could also do the whole thing in a more ceremonial way by adding in the GRH for Mars. If you do it that way, I would suggest calling on the names of the spirits on the pentacle by the godname used in the GRH as part of your charge. But it will also work fine with just the field "bookending" the KOS operation as written.
One thing that I do is that I don't use the pentacles themselves as talismans. I use separate objects made of the proper metals or stones or whatever. The pentacle is like the diagrams I use with the Agrippa intelligences and spirits - its base function is to allow you to conjure the spirits.
If the pentacle is made of iron and so forth you can enchant it as your talisman if you want, but I find it helpful to keep the distinction clearer.
Hi Scott! Why do you always use the name of the archangel in the kameas? I have seen tables that put the kamea in the center with the sigil of the planetary spirit. It would also be curious to put the entire spiritual hierarchy in the kamea.
But, for some reason you put only the sigil of the archangel?

I did it with all three for years and then started experimenting with just the angel sigil. I got the same results as long as I still called on the intelligence and spirit in the conjuration. My working hypothesis is that as long as I have the angel's "phone number" - that is, the sigil - the angel can connect with the intelligence without a separate sigil and the intelligence can connect to the spirit without a separate sigil because they are linked through the hierarchy.
That being said, if you want to draw all three go right ahead. It certainly isn't wrong to add them to my versions.
There was a conversation that occurred through the email System that, apparently, did not make it here for some reason. It concerned someone considering using the Greater Key of Solomon's Sixth Pentacle of Mars as a means of Personal Protection. My personal experience with doing this very thing many years ago is that it is inadvisable. This is not the purpose of that particular Pentacle.
First, it must be pointed out that the meaning of "Elohim Qeber" is not, "God hath Covered (or Protected)." It actually means, "Gods have Entombed." This, combined with the text surrounding the Pentacle, "Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken." implies that it was intended to be used against enemies to cause their own weapons to turn against them.

Instructions for the use of this pentacle are not really provided in the text, so people are left thinking that they should just charge it and wear it. However, before I learned of this translation, and believing the author's translation without checking it myself until some time ago, I found the effects of this to be self destructive.
The text, properly, does say that, "The Sixth Pentacle of Mars displayed on this Seal is said to have so great a virtue that the person wearing this Pentacle, when attacked by anyone, will not be injured or wounded, but the weapons of the attacker will turn against him."
Also, the part that is missing is how to charge it and exact procedures for using it. I'm not sure wearing it is wise, but perhaps using it in a Candle Magick Spell, once charged, would be better:
On the back of the Pentacle, write the name or names of your would be attacker(s). Now, charge the Pentacle with the forces of Mars, reciting the inscriptions. The effect should be that it will cause any weapons your enemies (whose names are now written on the back of your Pentacle) use, magical or physical, to turn against them, allowing you an easy victory.

If so, you are correct that EHNB would be the name for both Active and Passive Spirit. The Enochian system does not make a distinction between the two.

In Watchtower ritual is like that ,don t know what should be more harmonious.
You can do it that way. Just bear in mind that Golden Dawners will argue with you about which names are which, because that system is different.
Tablet of Union names are more purely elemental, so a case could be made that they might work better for inserting into something like Liber Samekh instead of these Watchtower names. Also, if you're going to use EHNB for spirit, it really goes with the Tablet of Union names and not the Watchtower names.
I don't know of any "secret names" that are part of the original Enochian system, so I'm not sure what you mean.

I presume that we don't recite them literally as presented and skip lines, eg who saidst to me at Mortlake p126, or Dee, Dee, Dee p125, in our recitations. If those are what I think they are, they are names that the Golden Dawn came up with that are not anywhere in the diaries.
As far as calling elemental kings, I stand across the altar from the direction associated with the king and then issue the conjuration to that direction. If I do it for all four, I do each to the corresponding side and thus move around the altar.
Israel Regardie wrote the original opening by watchtower as the "basis of all practical magick" or something to that effect. I haven't found that it actually works very well for practical magick, so if that's really the purpose it's just not a very effective ritual. And in my experience, converting it to Enochian doesn't seem to help much in that regard.
As far as the Heptarchial conjurations, you can do them with all the Dee-specific stuff and they still work, or you can skip or edit a bit. As just one example, I usually truncate "who saidst to me at Mortlake" to "who saidst at Mortlake." It was said at Mortlake, just not to me.
The order of the planetary attributions for the Kings and Princes comes directly off the Heptarchial wheel, which in turn mirrors the order of the Ensigns of Creation on the Holy Table. And no, it doesn't line up with any other previous arangement like the Chaldean Order. The pattern appears to be specific to the Enochian system.
Scott, how do you measure the effectiveness of your rituals? I have a wooden pendulum both transmitter and receiver when I practiced dowsing. I have started dowsing again and from what I see it is quite practical when you want to harmonize a room. I am going to try to measure the effectiveness of the LRP and the star ruby and an emitting pendulum to know which of the 3 is better. Obviously it depends a lot on the magician and his ability, but I'm really curious how you measure or test the rituals (besides trial and error). Thanks a lot. All the best.
What you want to do is find something that you want to manifest where you have a pretty good idea of how unlikely it is. This needs to be something repeatable that you can cast multiple times. Then you do the exact same ritual several times, the only difference being changing the form that you want to change. Otherwise follow the ritual template exactly. Record your results and see which version worked the best according to how strong the probability shift was. Try and do your best to see that astrological conditions are similar. A fairly neutral astrological landscape for all your trials is generally the best for this, because neutral conditions are more common than dignified or debilitated conditions.
You will need to do this a number of times to get a solid answer. If one is substantially better or worse than the others, that will show up in a small sample set. Otherwise you need a bigger one - and I suspect you will, given that I know the LRP and Star Ruby produce pretty similar results based on my own testing. I haven't used an emitting pendulum, so I have no idea how well that will work or if it's even comparable.

It is worth that most of it is already written here, but it would be very interesting to me. Many authors publish on lulu or other independent publishers. I have read several books and none is better than your blog.

Yes, something like that should be workable. The sephiroth represent states of consciousness, so if you are looking to tune your state of mind in this way it should be workable.
I do not think I have any articles here on those topics, at least not articles dedicated to them. Most of the sephiroth map to planets, so you could use the "vices and virtues" associated with the corresponding planet and arrive at a usable arrangement. I'm not clear on what you mean by "what Archangels are." They are celestial spirits that reside towards the top of the spiritual hierarchy, but what else are you looking for here?

I am either a very good or very bad person to ask about the idea of "ego death," since one of the key components of early twentieth century magick that I reject is the psychoanalytic model.
The whole Freudian concept of "ego" as defined in opposition to the "unconscious mind" has been shown to be complete nonsense by modern neuroscience. The reasons for that are more involved than I want to get into in a comment here, but I have written about it elsewhere on the blog. I strongly dislike the term for this reason, because it originates in a totally incorrect model of how the mind works.
As I see it, what is getting called "ego-death" here is simply realization of unity of all consciousness - that is, the continuity of your personal field of consciousness with that of the whole universe. "Ego" or more properly "egotism" - a behavior, not a component or subset of the mind - is rooted in the illusion of separateness from all other manifestations of consciousness.
And calling that a "death" is awfully Old Aeon as far as I'm concerned. The system of Thelema as I understand it is rooted in the principle of life and growth, and the ecstatic union with other manifestations of consciousness until realization of the continuity of consciousness is fully stabilized, if that makes sense. Spiritual realizations can be hard to describe due to terminology issues.
The Star Ruby is a microcosmic banishing, so it works on your personal field of consciousness. The function of the NOX signs there is as I see it a representation of the cosmic field of consciousness itself and our aspiration to union with it. As the context is microcosmic, this is primarily psychological in nature, and acknowledgement of that aspiration towards mystical consciousness.

make it seem like it worked) and it may be where the term "Ego" came from, but I'm just
trying to comprehend what it feels like when doing and have completed the Star Ruby. The
ritual seems to be more than just a banishing ritual. It seems that it changes you somehow.
To me Ego seem a lot like personality, or how you see yourself and the
world around you. It "FEELS" the Star Ruby has the potential (if given enough time) can
change your personality. Make you stronger, better even smarter.

experiencing was on par with what you and other people have experienced. Is there anything
you can tell me about this sensation of "CHANGE" I have and do experience while doing and

In my experience the differences between the LRP and Star Ruby are subtle. The Star Ruby pushes "outward" a little more than the LRP does, so maybe that means it extends a little further into macrocosmic space. Unfortunately, that's more of a feeling than anything I can empirically demonstrate with any precision.
Banishing rituals absolutely can change your personality over time, especially microcosmic ones like the LRP and Star Ruby. They work directly on your psyche, not on spaces or objects or whatever. Over time, they can "clear out" a lot of psychological impediments, resolve bad conditioning loops, and so forth. That is a common experience that a lot of practitioners have.
I will say, though, that the effect will be stronger and faster if you combine your banishing practice with an invoking practice. So I recommend students use the Star Sapphire along with the Star Ruby so that their practice is not limited to banishing and "cleaning up." Banishing is important and is one side of a successful spiritual practice, but the same is true of invoking and practitioners generally get the best results by combining the two methods in their ceremonial work.
If i make a statament to a Angel ,got it formulare s clearlly but feel anxious during the rite ,the Angel will not read my potentional negative feelings as a wish , right?
To me it seems that some talisman take effect after a longer time ,is that because it acumulate energy and waits for circumstances to be right??
#1: No, the angel will do what you charge it to do, in your explicit instructions. Your feelings during the operation have no effect on what goes into the charge.
#2: Nobody really knows, to tell you the truth. One explanation is as you say, that the talisman takes time to build up energy. But it's just as viable to suggest that the probability shift is constant and only overcomes the odds necessary to make something happen after a certain period of time. That's one of those questions that we would need a valid general theory of magick to sort out.
Is entity charging a talisman constant influence ,and don t require a additional charge,it just keeps runing ad infinitum?
Some sources write that a talisman needs a recharge after some time but they don t invoke entities, just draw sigils and energize with other methods ?
I am not sure exactly what you mean when you say "entity charging a talisman." When you do your operation and call on a spirit to charge a talisman, the talisman is charged instantly. It is not an ongoing process.
Talismans will not generally run forever, but they can run for a long time if made from durable materials like stones or metals. You can charge them over time in various ways, including just directing energy towards them during the course of your regular practices. Or you can do a full ceremonial ritual calling on the same spirit that made it and having the spirit increase the talisman's energy.
There's no hard and fast rule for this, and many different methods can work.
So if i make a paper talisman,and put a charge on talisman ,the charge runs until the talisman is destroyed or if the colour goes pale(colour or planetary sigils)!
Or it runs until i put a timelimit or if the goal is achieves!
It will stop working when destroyed or when the time runs out.
The condition of the color has nothing to do with the operation of a paper talisman. I generally find that paper talismans will only keep working for a few months regardless of how the color looks. The various methods of recharging can help extend that a bit, but if you want a talisman that will run for years you should use metal or a precious stone. Paper just isn't that durable over time.
Curious what you mean by that Scott. Someone told me that their paper talismans, which were laminated, have been working flawlessly for years. Here the key is lamination, or some other type of permanent casing that preserves the paper's durability. Another option could be to store the talisman in a secure location and never open it again. No damaging there. In my conversations with you on this topic, you told me that we have not found any other reason for paper talismans' low lifespan besides their durability. One can also use cardstock paper, photo paper. I don't know of any paper harder than photo paper.
In Middle Eastern and Islamic countries, paper talismans are traditionally enclosed in leather bags known as Taweez, which are then sewn by a cobbler. I attempted this method with my second talisman, but unfortunately, it failed, which is a separate issue, and the Taweez remains unused in my drawer. Therefore, I would suggest that Bishop consider storing his paper talismans in a protective casing to achieve a permanent effect. Another potential solution would be to sandwich the paper between two disks of wood, plastic or any solid material. Paper is an incredibly delicate material.
Now for my own questions:
Scott, you've told me that we just need the kamea or character of the planet or zodiac signs on the talisman for the spirit to recognise the affinity and consecrate it. For elemental talismans, would the character be the alchemical symbol? If so, what other symbols can be drawn for an Earth talisman?
Do you think that besides the basic symbol, does there need to be anything else that is particularly related to the goal of the talisman? I can fill up the talisman with the spirit's sigil, name, godname and whatnot but seems to work best here?
It is true that laminating paper talismans will help them last longer, as will keeping them out of direct sunlight (which I imagine is part of what keeping them in a bag does). Cardstock is also more durable than regular paper, so that will last longer as well. I was specifically talking about plain paper in my previous response.
For an elemental talisman, the alchemical symbol will work just fine.
The talisman does not need the spirit sigil, godname, or anything like that. You can add it if you want, but it doesn't make any difference. The sigil of the spirit should be present, but it can be drawn on paper and is completely separate from the talisman itself. The talisman just needs an affinity to the quality it is being charged with. For a paper talisman that can be a symbol or character, and for a metal or stone talisman the proper metal or stone should already be selected for that affinity and needs no other decoration.
Ok ,i done many regular paper talismans with Planet s kamea and Angel s sigils on it ,does that mean that all my previous paper talismans won t work after some time even thru they are protected and wrapped in aluminium ,not touched,wrapped in perchmant paper,the paper is not damaged bor the colour on it and they got no time limit!

At some point they will stop working, yes. Unprotected paper does not last as long as stones or metals. But the more you do to protect paper talismans, the longer they will last. I can't easily tell you how long that will be. All I can tell you is that what the color looks like has nothing to do with it.
Lead is a better correspondence for Saturn, iron is generally better for Mars. But yes, you can use a nail as a Mars talisman. The shape is good too, since Mars is also associated with sharp and pointy things like weapons.
I guess as the quality of paper worns off.
But let s say a regular paper talisman is protected ,wrapped and in a colder,dark and dry place!

Honestly, I really do not know what the time limit would be under those circumstances. I find that metal and stone talismans often only last a couple years, even when protected and so forth. I haven't done a bunch of experiments with paper talismans in different circumstances, and that's really what I would have to do to give you a useful answer.

With that schema you would use the elemental archangels for the three mother letters:
Aleph = Air = Raphael
Mem = Water = Gabriel
Shin = Fire = Michael
Those angels have elemental attributions in addition to their planetary and sephirothic ones.

A friend of mine was bitten by what we think is a spider. She did get medical attention, but she also let me try some healing magick for her:
I performed a Sun Invoking Ritual and directed the energy, Archangel and Planetary Intelligence to heal her spider bite. Upon completing the Work, I messaged my friend and asked what she experienced. She said there was no change in the level of pain or anything else.
So, I immediately performed a Mercurial Healing, directing the energy, Archangel and Planetary Intellifence to heal her spider bite. Again, immediately after, I messaged her, asking what she experienced. She said that the pain was reduced by half.
I have seen "Healing and Health" written in several sources for BOTH the Sun and Mercury. What is the difference between the two types of healing energy in terms of how they work, please? Thanks.
Mercury works best for general healing. The health attribution for the Sun is more like general energy and vitality, which is unlikely to affect an insect bite or other injury. Another healing application for the Sun would be to mediate some condition in a person's natal chart that is directly related to Sun placement and/or aspects.
I usually don't use the Sun for healing, though. Mercury is better in just about every circumstance for those sorts of operations.
The Sun is also a far slower planet than Mercury as well. Mercury is all about speed and the astrological election might have been favourable towards Mercury at the time you did it. I've also found Mercurial spells work fast but I've only worked with Ophiel, the Olympic spirit of Mercury, and Nitika. One time I remember, being in extreme upper back pain all the time on my last job's commute, like stab levels of pain and called King Paralda (King of Air) to please get rid of this torment and he opened up the muscle immediately and my trapezius breathed the first sigh of relief. The pain did return but the relief was immediate. I haven't worked with the Sun though. I have only tried the Solar 4-fold breathing which is more energywork than healing and it works immediately to fill me up with vitality.
I've seen people report success with the PGM Solar healing spell that calls on Helios though.
Scott we have discussed paper talismans and their low lifespan but what is your opinion on those herbal talismans? Unlike paper, that vial can be filled with things corresponding to the power boosting the spell power. Do these talismans work longer or shorter? Is the talisman the entire vial or just its contents? I think it is a step above the paper talisman and we should always strive for better and better talismans and magick in general.
I would agree with that. Herbs do seem to last longer and be more durable than paper.
For something like an herbal tincture, the "talisman" would be the contents and not necessarily the vial. You should be able to transfer it to a different container and still have it keep working.
So not are we getting a longer duration but also a more powerful spell than the paper. Hoodoo practioners go crazy with their Mojo bags. They 'feed' the spirit of the bag every week. I think in our case, it's only necessary when the spirit of the talisman demands it.
In my experience paper can be just as powerful if made correctly. The only downside is that the talisman doesn't last as long.
There are various ways to send energy to feed a talismans, offerings being one method. Generally those sorts of things can extend its life.

No, it should not cause any problems to do LRP/LRH and Star Ruby/Star Sapphire on alternate days. Both are viable methods for creating an operant field, and Crowley also used the LRP and LRH throughout his magical career for some operations. I sometimes alternate them personally as well, and haven't noticed any issues.
And no, there isn't any conflict involved in using your own HGA name instead of Aiwass or Adonai or whatever once you have it. As far as I can tell from my own experience, that's exactly what you are supposed to do.
So I've just learned that it's not a good idea for me to a pathworking when sleepy. Not only does it take me all the way, the energy gets dissipated far more than normal. I wanted to see whether one would succeed if one were to pathwork a 2nd time to their angel. This is not the first time I have fallen asleep during ritual.
Yes, that can be an issue with pathworking. Also meditation. I do most of my practices in the evening before I go to bed, so I have to be careful that I am not too tired when I go up to do them.

And not to forget the constant yawning when doing the rituals especially that dreaded middle pillar. Easily the most yawn invoking ritual of all time. Yawns are supposed to wake you up.
I wanted to ask about something. Do the 12 zodiacal angels act as fast as the planets that rule over their signs when it comes to results? Practitioners say that Saturn is the slowest planet to bring about results, while the Moon is the fastest. This would mean that Capricorn and Aquarius, which are ruled by Saturn, would be the slowest signs, while Cancer, ruled by the Moon, would be the fastest. Of course, not as fast as the elements and planets themselves. Is this true?
I have not observed much difference in the speed of the different signs, but I also have not noticed much difference in speed between planets. I don't have results suggesting that, for example, Capricorn (Saturn) works slower than Cancer (Moon). But I also don't have results suggesting that, for example, Mercury works faster than Jupiter.
Maybe other practitioners have observed this, I just have not. What I've experienced is that the elements work about as fast as each other, the planets work about as fast as each other, and the signs work about as fast as each other. By class, elements are faster than planets, and planets are faster than signs.
1. Just as the talisman only needs to have an affinity with the aspect, does the candle also need to have that bare affinity? Having a white candle with the symbol of the aspect painted in the path colour for a practical purpose seems fine to me instead of painting the entire candle green for earth. Having the entire offering set up in an appropriate colour would work best yes but, in my country coloured candles are not sold and you probably know that its generally harder to find a specific coloured candle like say Indigo (Saturn) or Amber (Cancer) than a white candle.
2. In 777, talismans are attributed to water and pentacles to Earth but aren't talismans and pentacles the same thing? And why does water rule over talismans in general? This is similar to that Cancer's power of magnetization where a water aspect rules over an entire field of magic. What would be the application of this power?
1. I would think that would be fine.
2. The pentacle is a specific magical tool related to the element Earth. It is different from a talisman for a particular magical objective.
3. There are a number of possible reasons that water rules talismans in general. The magnetization idea seems very plausible to me. I know that it works, but I'm not sure there's an "official" explanation anywhere.
Scott, I've been thinking about this. When seeking higher formal education, which planet should be petitioned? People apply to institutions but if they add in a magickal ritual that oversees the entire endeavour then I think it would greatly improve their chances of acceptance.
Usually I use Mercury for learning. But a case could also be made for Jupiter - that rules "political and other ascendency." So for example, Jupiter could make you seem more significant and important, which could help you get into a selective school.
Indeed Jupiter was my first thought as well, because Sagittarius rules higher forms of education and philosophy and indeed the earliest schools in our history were philosophical schools.
Now I want us to take a look at as to why my 5 talismans had failed. The first reason I can come up with is that the spirit was simply not present inside the temple i.e not properly conjured. These angels have zero reason to not agree to empower talismans. However, I must share that those angels were not collaborated with prior to the talismans. Queen Ghob though on the other, I entered into an agreement with and followed her brief instructions to make the talisman and even face the appropriate direction.
My first talisman I made with Hanael (Capricorn) which I was sure of would be working. My 2nd talisman was with a Shem angel which was done haphazardly and confusingly. My 3rd talisman was with the Agrippa angels of Mercury which made use of our Almuten calculations. This one surprised me the most because it failed despite perfect conditions and ritual. My 4rth talisman was with Asmodel - the herbal and paper talisman combo - which hasn't reached its deadline yet but has not shown any signs of working despite having Asmodel's approval. I also haven't fed it anything yet. My last talisman was with Ghob which I have destroyed after its deadline.
Now for tools, my wand was consecrated by the same Shem angel a few weeks ago which failed his talisman. Now there is no way to confirm a tool's consecration except I feel my evocations have grown more powerful with the wand now, so I think that worked at least.
This is all I can say about why those talismans failed. My petitions/charges though have not failed. All problem seems to be with the talisman.
Here are two possible fixes:
Aries rules over consecration, so Melchaidel can be conjured to consecrate the talisman in case it is not already consecrated. Water rules over talismans so Nikhsa, Taliahad or Tharsis can be conjured to imbue the talisman with its talismanic properties in case it's not already done so.
So can you suggest what I could be doing horribly wrong here? I don't want to give up on talismans entirely but if this continues then I would have to.
Yes, I am doing these as standard evocations within the Table of Art. Your Augoeides ritual template is so simple and effective that I am positive I have conjured spirits using it. However, talismans elude me. I too believe that I am not doing anything wrong as far as the steps.
I guess I need to go back to my old method of petitioning that I discussed with you last year, where one petitions a spirit daily for 7 days with or without the planetary hour and see what the spirits tell me. This method required a lot of faith for me to try it because it's a commitment of a full week for something you can't even be sure of would work. This is how people worked with that NAP book, even big names like Brother Moloch.
I just made one last night that resolved a very difficult situation by this morning, when I wasn't expecting it to work nearly that fast. Same steps. So I don't know why you're having trouble with it.
If petitions work for you, maybe that's what you need to do. Magick doesn't always work the same for everyone.

Hey Scott, I have a few questions regarding talismans. Our method conjures the spirit and asks it to empower the talisman. The GD did it the same way but why do I get the feeling the Picatrix doesn't do it that way? The SOI (Science of Images) method it employes on metal and gem calls in a new spirit every time you do the ritual and the spirit ensouls itself in the talisman. You never conjure the planetary angels or anything. You invoke the planet directly and it sends its own spirit each time.
Our method does not do that nor does our method let the talisman operate perpetually whereas the Picatrix talisman can do that. Years of continuous operation. Our method requires us to feed the talisman or petition with physical offerings after some time, like once every week or month.
If the Picatrix doesn't conjure any spirits, how are their talismans getting consecrated? And to which branch of magic does our Augoeides talisman consecration method belong?
Finally, do you practice Lunar mansion magic?
You are correct that the image magick system does not work quite the same way as what I do. It is an older system of magick that relies much more heavily on astrological elections, because the entire talisman embodies the exact astrological conditions under which is was made.
I don't know that I believe Picatrix talismans run perpetually. I have yet to see anyone I consider reputable online assert that. I haven't done enough work with it to personally say. So in my mind the jury is still out on that claim.
You can create talismans using my methods that feed themselves off of ambient spiritual energy and the like. If you do that, in theory the talisman should run indefinitely. So far the longest one I have like that has run for a couple years, but that's as long as I've been using the method so I don't have anything older.
I do not know of any English translations for the planetary intelligences. I have not come across anything like that.
Oh, and as far as lunar mansion magick goes, not really. I've done a few lunar mansion rituals but I need to do a lot more before I feel like I have any level of expertise with them. Basically they are image magick just like the Picatrix planetary stuff.
It's amazing how you have not felt the need to do much work with fixed stars, decans, mansions and other stuff when the zodiac, planets and elements have been working so well for you. Just goes to show that complicated image magick is not required.
Picatrix magicians also don't work with the Enochian system and they will also dub it as unworkable. Lunar mansion is as far as they're willing to go. But check this out. Their ritual takes only 10-15 minutes or shorter and all they do during it is engrave the image on the gem glued with the herbs underneath while they light up the suffumigation, and say something like "by the One Most High, may the spirit of Mercury enter this ring and give me wisdom, amen." as the talisman is passed multiple times through the smoke at each stage of its creation.
No Raphael, Tiriel, or Taphtartarath called. Since no spirit is conjured, just who are they asking to enter the talisman?
Why don't they conjure the kabbalistic angels like we do?
They obviously are wrong about Enochian, since it does work.
I don't put angels/intelligences/spirits into my talismans either. That's not what the conjuration is for. The talisman behaves like it's ensouled, but it's not the soul of the angel/intelligence/spirit. It is an entirely new entity that shares the planetary/zodiacal/elemental quality. I conjure the spirits to create that when I charge them with empowering the talisman.
In image magick it's the current zodiacal forces that do that, focused through the image and into the material.
I can't speak to their mindset, but Picatrix is older than the Tree of Life. Jewish Kabbalah dates to about the 10th or 11th century, and Pictrix dates to about the 9th, and in the Arabic world rather than Europe. Our version of Qabalah evolved out of "Christian Kabbalah" in the 15th century and has been disconnected from the Jewish version since that time. So maybe that has something to do with it, but I can only speculate.
Scott, any experience with the decans? I've been wanting to experiment with the decans via their angels as given in liber 777. While 777 doesn't list their powers, we get an idea of what they're able to do based on the description of the decan in the Picatrix. My entire reason for attempting decan magick is to capitalise on its full power when the Sun is in the ruling sign.
Quoting book II, chap 11 which divides the faces based on the order of the sign triplicity method which makes the ruler of the first decan of a sign the planet that rules the sign.
3rd decan of Libra (Jupiter) for e.g: "There rises in the third face of Libra a man riding a donkey with a wolf in front of him. This is a face of evil works, sodomy, adultery, singing, joy and flavors. This is its form."
We don’t need the image since we don’t do picatrix magick. The latter half signifies singing, joy and culinary delights which can be of a benefic use. It's corresponding Minor Arcana card strangely has a totally different meaning; peace and respite after war and troubling times.
1. If this is considered a part of zodiacal magick, what part does the planet play here? I think it's still zodiacal magick but tuned to the planet's influence.
2. What colours would be used on the talisman? This is the most confusing part because we have to draw both characters of Libra and Jupiter on the same talisman to in some appropriate colours to signify the affinity. So what I come up with is this: Paper coloured in King scale colour of Libra which is green along with the Libra symbol in red and an indigo Jupiter symbol underneath it. The sigil will also employ the same colors. Step 2 could be avoided entirely if you were to petition the angel instead of doing a talismanic operation.
3. The decan angel is called Shachdar. Should her sigil be traced on the Venus kamea or should Zuriel be conjured and asked to bring Shachdar along? If the latter, then I think we should charge both angels with the task and it makes sense to call the Archangel prior to the decan angel since they share a hierarchical relationship with each other.
4. As for elections, Venus almutens are all I can come up with for this Libra decan since it's zodical magick.
I have some experience working with the decans. You can generally work with them using the zodiacal rituals for the signs, with the angel names corresponding to the decans instead of the signs themselves.
1. Even though we're not doing image magick, the picatrix image will work well on any talisman you create. I generally draw it on the taliman right before I start the ritual, so I can put it into the Table of Practice before doing any forms.
2. The colors for the sign can be used on the talisman. The decans themselves don't have separate colors.
3. Generally I trace on the Venus kamea and call the angel directly. I haven't experimented with combining the decan and sign angels - though I also don't see any reason why that couldn't work, it just adds some complexity that you might not need.
4. The best almutens for Libra decans are Venus (rules Libra) and Saturn (exalted in Libra). Jupiter is also good for this particular decan because it's the decan ruler. You would want to avoid Mars (detriment in Libra) and Sun (fall in Libra). Mercury and the Moon are neutral.

Some years ago, I was experimenting with the Abremelin System. One day, I returned home to an empty house. I'd lost my keys. I checked all of the doors and windows and even, in frustration, tried to kick the front door open by force -- to no avail. It was very securely locked. Not knowing what else to do here, I charged the Abremelin Square that is supposed to "To open every kind of lock without a key and without making any noise." At the time I only knew the rituals from Donald Michael Kraig's Modern Magick, so that is what I used to charge it, performing the ritual outside in the front yard. The "Charge" was something like, "Open all doors." or something very similar. Once charged, I touched the written side of the Talisman to the doorknob and, waited just a few seconds, pushed at the door and was, at first, disappointed that nothing had changed. However, after another few minutes (maybe about 15?), I gently leaned against the door, in frustration...and proceeded to fall inside, as the door opened on its own. I stood up, bow inside my home, and checked the door. The door was still locked, but had somehow been opened. No other person was there, so this had to be from charged square.
Would a Saturn Invoking Ritual be the most appropriate one to use to replicate this?
Or would a Greater Earth Invoking Pentagram Ritual be better? Thanks.

I could see an argument for both Saturn and Earth, and I haven't tried either for this purpose. Saturn rules boundaries and restrictions, so if I were working on this I would probably try that first. But Earth is a strong contender as well.
Another possibility might be Mercury, which rules movement between places. The locked door would be preventing you from moving inside your house. In that case, though, your charge should probably be something like "get me inside my house" instead of focusing on the lock itself.
1a. Do the decans work in a similar fashion to the signs?
1b. Does this mean you do practice picatrix magick? That pretty much is the entire picatrix ritual procedure.
2. That saves me the hassle of coming up with new color combinations for decan talismans.
3. After your discovery of adding Agrippa's 3 planetary spirits to your rituals, I thought the natural progression would be the same for both signs and elements. Liber 777 has a list of all 3 zodiacal angels but doesn't differentiate between them. Author Gary St Nottingham though, does call in the 'lesser assistant angel' after the ruling zodiacal angel. And that Crowley puts the 12 angels in the same list as the planetary archangels under the Geomantic intelligences column, I think they're archangels as well.
1. They are similar. You can basically use the same format with the decan angel names and conjure them by the godname for the sign, or the shem permutation. Both seem to work.
1b. It means I have done a few rituals out of the Picatrix. I am by no means an expert and it is not something I practice regularly.

3. Yes, the Geomantic Intelligences column in 777 is where you find the planetary and zodiacal angels. They seem to operate at the same level as the more traditional elemental archangels. I'm not familiar with St. Nottingham at all, but what you are describing sounds logical to me. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work off the top of my head.
As in your planetary articles, is it possible to call in spirits of a lower heierchy by the authority of the higher spirit? Think Auriel calling Ghob, Phorlakh, and Kerub for an Earth ritual and charging all 4. If so, would the sigils for the other spirits need to be constructed?
I've done your planetary rituals and I can confirm that approach works but need to confirm for other spirits.
It should be possible to call a spirit by the name of the spirit directly above it in the spirit hierarchy, once that spirit is present and so forth like in the planetary operations.
I don't know if what you're laying out here is the right hierarchy. I call the elemental kings by the elemental godname, not by an angel name. But as always, you can experiment and see if it works and feel free to share your findings.
Yes, the same godname from Atziluth would be used for the entire hierarchy of Earth spirits when charging them. The reason why I suggested doing it by the angel's name is just like your planetary rituals where the angel calls in the intelligence and daemon and whatnot.
We have discussed that paper talismans need to be fed with offerings to lengthen their lifespan - especially important for long running zodiacal talismans - but if it were a petition instead? How would one feed a petition spell instead? It just occurred to me that there is no way to feed a petition spell because it's not a physical thing.
My guess is that we would simply conjure the spirit and have it feed on the offering in regards to the spell.
What you are suggesting sounds reasonable, but I have not personally done it. That being said, I don't have a better idea how to do it off the top of my head and would probably try that before anything else.
How small can talismans get, especially if they're made out of paper? Ring and jewellery talismans they make as small as the person's desires so a thin rectangular strip of paper like those beautiful Chinese Taoist talismans, can it work? I'm positive it can but making it so small that it can easily be mistaken for a wrist band should also be possible since a talisman only requires affinity not size, something I have never seen discussed anywhere though I would not use any shape other than a circle or square/rectangle.
Scott, I remembered something you told me more than a year ago when I asked about wanting to house spirits inside my home on talismans or altars instead of conjuring them each time to fulfil a charge. You said,
'Are you sure? If you anchor one instance of a spirit inside your home and just work with it, you're left with only the power of one instance of the spirit. Each time you do the conjuration you get a new instance, which can work on other tasks even if you have one or more instances of the same spirit occupied.
To try to explain this simply, what you conjure is not "the spirit" in a general cosmic sense but rather a specific manifestation of it. You get a new manifestation of the "base spirit" every time you conjure, and you can have multiple ones out there doing things. Working with a single manifestation does not allow for this - the single manifestation will have to divide its power among every task you give it to do.
This extends further to talismans. Each talisman has its own source of spiritual power and can work independently. You don't need to bind a spirit into it to make it work - the talisman behaves the same way servitors do and in effect houses an "artificial spirit" dedicated to accomplishing the talisman's specific charge."
And I've run with your advice since but a few weeks ago I asked about the possibility of using something to contact the spirit better, you told me that when next I conjure a spirit, have something with me that I can use as a talisman and ask the spirit to empower the talisman to enable me to contact it going forward. After that, I should be able to just hold the talisman in my hand and connect with the spirit for purposes of communication.
So I assume the two pieces of information have to do with just communicating with the spirit, akin to a personal contact but NOT using that talisman - which contains that one instance of the spirit - to charge the spirit for reasons you mentioned. If this is what you meant, then I am fully on board with you. In fact, this is similar to what the Arbatel repeatedly recommends getting in the form of a personal sigil and a name that goes with that sigil.
However, this does confuse me about altars. Does your 'instance theory' apply the same to spirit altars?
I do not know what the lower limit is on paper talismans, but I have made some that were pretty small and still worked. It needs to be big enough that the character is legible, but not necessarily a lot larger. I usually make mine 2-3 inches square if I'm using paper.
I think it probably applies to altars too, but that's not something I've done a lot of testing with. There could be some additional factors involved, not sure what those would be without more experimentation.
I now make them exclusively share shaped as well. The square shape along with the words and sigils make it far more aesthetic than a circular one.
So should I or should I not have the spirit consecrate something as a talisman for the purposes of communicating it going forward like you told me or will this run me into your instance theory problem?
You can have the spirit consecrate a talisman to facilitate communication. I did not mean to imply that you shouldn't, if that was how you read it. I just haven't tried that myself, so I don't know how well it will work and how much it will enhance communication from my personal experience.
This sounds similar to the idea of intermediaries found within the grimoires that are 100% neglected in lodge magick. For Dee and Kelley, Uriel was the primary contact who would open the door to all other angels and spirits they contacted. In the Grimorium Verum, it's Scirlin. All archangels are intermediaries of their particular aspect as well.
Do you know anything about intermediaries that lodge magicians such as Crowley or others might have written about? I want to know whether it's worth it in practice.
Thelemic magick is generally considered lodge magick, and Crowley wrote extensively about the Holy Guardian Angel, the intermediary from the Abramelin grimoire. In fact, the Holy Guardian Angel is heavily integrated into the Thelemic system.
And Scirlin? Here's a really interesting piece of information. Joseph Peterson, one of the current experts on grimoire magick, took a look at manuscripts of The True Grimoire from before the 19th century and found no evidence of Scirlin. Scirlin shows up when a publisher known for "Faustian" grimoires published their version.
Many of the Faustian grimoires are considered fraudulent by academics. The suggestion is that Scirlin might have been added not for any magical reason, but because the company felt that The True Grimoire needed an intermediary because it didn't have one. So I think that's at least worth keeping in mind whether it's really what happened or not.
We do know that Scirlin is a late addition, whatever that means. Probably 19th century and not much earlier.
The True Grimoire, which is Jake Kent's title for the Grimorium Verum contains information for Scirlin, so does Peterson's book. I don't know when he found no evidence of Scirlin because different manuscripts name different intermediaries and so far no one has come forward with the possibility of Scirlin being a fake spirit. They still work with him.
HGA would be an intermediary for all magick but it is incredibly hard to get knowledge and conversation with the HGA which is why most start with other spirits. I am currently experimenting with calling on Uriel to act as an intermediary prior to calling any other spirit. I must let him/her know that I need him/her to become my patron so that I can use this function of her. I will report back once I have some tangible success.
2ndly, is it possible to extend the deadline after the ritual? I gave a deadline of a couple of months to a talisman consecrated by a zodiacal angel but I also mentioned to it that this was so that if it is not able to accomplish what its task by then, then I will redo the ritual with it but in case the probabilities shift towards my favor and fall just outside of the time limit then I would like to extend the deadline. Is such a change possible or is the deadline set in stone?
My point about the HGA was only meant to suggest that intermediaries are not "100% neglected" in lodge magick systems. Mathers was also very interested in the Abramelin HGA in the context of the original Golden Dawn system, though Crowley expanded it much further.
Peterson talks about his findings in The Secrets of Solomon. It was published after his edition of the Verum. I am aware that the Scirlin material is in the version that has come down to us, but in The Secrets of Solomon Peterson digs more deeply into its history.

The deadline would need to be reset doing another ritual, like a transmutation ritual or something, so you really wouldn't be saving yourself any work. If you recast, and progress made by the original talisman is not lost. Make sure it runs all the way to the deadline and then cast again if your result hasn't manifested by then. The second ritual should be able to pick up where the first one left off.

I've a question about working with "Familiar Spirits." One of the first teachers I had used to keep them, apparently, in the Inner Planes, summoning them with simple Intent (probably mentally calling them by name), and snapping his fingers. I was instructed, when he had given me 2, to summon them each day, calling them to my mind, to "feed them." Then, to summon them whenever I had need of them for any specific task.
Over the years, I've tried this approach of keeping Familiar Spirits a few times, working with them as I'd been taught. However, in all of the times I've done so, my Inner Planes began to "feel crowded" so, after some time that varied each time I did it, I would always release them back to the spirits that had granted them to me.
I'm contemplating asking for 1, or at most, 2 Familiar Spirits. How do I work with them "correctly"?

I am not that familiar with this method, so your mileage may vary. My thought would be that in order to keep the spirits around all the time they have to take up some amount of "space" in your field of consciousness. As the spirits become stronger, the amount of space they take up can grow.
What I would probably do is anchor any familiar spirit I wanted to work with on an object rather than my field of consciousness. This makes them work more like talismans - they run off their own source of spiritual power rather than drawing it from you.
Scott, I tried to make a servitor recently not birthed and empowered by Hamaliel, but another zodiacal archangel because I wanted it to have the powers of that sign which seemed better, like a fire servitor through Djin. This servitor is supposed to work on my habits according to its instructions.
Geomancy divination confirmed that the angel did indeed arrive but I'm unsure about whether the servitor is alive and doing its task or it needs more time to, like the Chaos magick books say, mature and start working or as you say grow in power until results are noticeable. So far I haven't seen evidence of its working.
So what to do here? Do your servitors come to life the moment you charge Hamaliel to bring it to life or do they take a few days at least?
