More With Letter Essences

My ritual group has been evaluating Patricia Shaffer's letter essences for the Angelic/Enochian language over the past several weeks and I've decided to post some of our results. The goal of this analysis is to see if there is any apparent difference in terms of coherent meaning between words obtained from Enochian operations and random collections of letters.

I have already posted the breakdowns from Jabberwocky in the previous thread, and they will be repeated here along with a collection of random words and a set of words obtained from one of our Enochian operations.

The basic methodology is as follows:
  1. Take two sets of words, one random and one obtained from Enochian rituals
  2. Analyze both sets using the letter essence system.
  3. Determine whether or not the actual Angelic words have more coherent meanings than the random set. This is unfortunately somewhat subjective, which is why I am including the data here.
We actually wound up using two sets of words, one of which was a set of computer-generated random collections of letters and the other some of Lewis Carroll's "nonsense" words from the poem Jabberwocky. Unlike the random words, the words from Jabberwocky are contructed with vowel and consonant placement consistent with English and to a lesser extent Angelic.

The Angelic words that appear here came from an evocation of Bralges, the Heptarchial Prince for Monday, in which I acted as the scryer (using the Nova Pro brain machine, which I discussed in another article). We asked for the Angelic names of the traditional planets, since the Calls only include names for the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth. Since the basic attibutions of the planets are known, this provides another check for the validity of the letter essence system - the planet names should in some way correspond to what each planet represents. At the time, I was not at all familiar with the letter essence system.

Here is the breakdown for the random words. The first set was generated automatically by a computer program that assembles random collections of vowels and consonants. Thanks to Brother Keith for putting together the program and to Brother Odin for doing the letter essence breakdowns.
  • Gexhtr: Not-cause-limit-life-judgment-change
  • Zyhetfyoe: Divide-growth-life-intend-balance-manifest-grow-become-will
  • Nkhftv: Within-make-breathe-show/appear-balance-darken
  • Yjrdtjsxc: Increase-grow-change-possible-balance-grow-have/acquire-decrease-cause
  • Nxlltsnd: Within-limit/restrict-unite-unite-balance-have-within-to be possible
  • Uqtybd: Lighten-desire-balance-grow/increase-polarize-to be possible
  • Mlxbe: Be aware-unite-limit/restrict-polarize/choose-intent
  • Euukdi: Will-light-light-make/cause-to be possible
  • Rdaisyi: Move/change-to be possible-begin/renew-enable-acquire-growth-enable
  • Ckarng: Make-make-begin-change-within-not
  • Ujzzazxvl: Light-grow-divide-divide-begin-divide-limit-hide-unite
  • Pdiidbyo: Establish-to be possible-enable-enable-to be possible-choose-increase-become
  • Djuxjjfi: To be possible-increase-light-limit-increase-increase-manifest-enable
  • Hlikbd: Live-unite-enable-make/cause-choose-to be possible
  • Yvfwflx: Increase-hide-manifest-light-manifest-unite-limit
  • Cifxseoj: Cause-enable-manifest-limit-have/acquire-will-intent-become-increase
  • Agqeaoq: Begin-not-desire-will/intent-begin-become-desire
  • Vnijfndry: Hide-to be in-enable-grow-manifest-to be in-to be possible-change-grow
  • Fsosa: Manifest-have-become-have-begin
  • Luhtjlf: Unite-light-live-balance-increase-unite-manifest
  • Ztvhm: Divide-balance-hide-life-be aware
  • Eoapb: Intend-become-begin-establish-choice
Here is the set from Jabberwocky that I posted in the previous discussion thread. Again, thanks to Brother Odin for doing the breakdowns.
  • BRILLIG: Choose-move-enable-unite-unite-enable-not
  • SLITHY: Acquire-union-enable-balance/justice-live-grow
  • MIMSY: know-enable-know-have-growth
  • BOROGOVES: choose-become-change-become-not-become-hide-intent-have/gather
  • RATHS: move/change-begin-balance-live-have/acquire
  • OUTGRABE: become-light-balance-not-change-begin-choice-will
  • VORPAL: hide-become-change-establish--begin-unite/provide for
Interestingly, even though the Jabberwocky words are more similar in structure to English and Angelic words in terms of vowel and consonant placement, they actually seem to make less sense overall. Still, the random words are not much better - one or two look interesting, but that could easily be accounted for by chance alone.

Here are the planet names, along with their breakdowns and associations. Once more, thanks to Brother Odin for the breakdowns. I should make it clear here that I, as the scryer, was unfamiliar with the letter attributions of Schaffer's system at the time they were obtained.

BANRO (Mercury): Polarize the renewing within (of the) motion of being.

Mercury is associated with movement (the motion of being?), healing (renewal within?), knowledge, and languages.

DMUZ (Venus): The potential (for the) knowledge (of) enlightenment (of the) other(ness)

Venus is associated with sexuality, passion, and romantic love. "I am divided for love's sake, for the chance of union" (from The Book of the Law).

PAROTH (Mars): Establishing (the) beginning (of) change (in) existence (to the) balance of life

Mars is associated with struggle, conflict, and will, especially the will to power. Will could be interpreted as "the beginning of change," especially in the context of magick as change in conformity with will.

CYLMA (Jupiter): Cause beginning (of) provision (in the) knowledge (of the) origin

Jupiter is attributed to love, mercy, expansion, and rulership. "Provision" could be related to the mercy of God as represented in Chesed, and "Cause" could be related to rulership.

TUR (Saturn): Balancing (the) enlightenment (of) change

Saturn is attributed to structure and restriction, but also to the sphere of Binah which relates to the grade of Master of the Temple and the enlightenment that is awakened by the Crossing of the Abyss.

These last three names are from the Calls.

CAOSGI (Earth): Make a beginning of existence, possess not energy
GRAA (Moon): Not movement (to) renew (the) beginning/time
ROR (Sun): Move (the) beginning (of) change

The name for Earth seems to correspond well to the state of the universe in which energy has condensed into matter (Malkuth/Assiah). It is also interesting to see that Sun is related to movement and the Moon is related to "not movement" in light of the common association of Sun with active spirit and Moon with passive spirit.

My initial take on this is that not only do the breakdowns for the planet names seem more coherent, they also relate to the nature of each planet, though naturally some seem to correspond better than others.
