The sign Virgo is attributed to the powers of "Invisibility, Parthenogenesis, Initiation." Magical invisibility is more about avoiding being noticed than transparency, parthenogenesis can be used to create artificial spirits such as the servitors made by chaos magicians, and initiation is a general power that can be employed to set in motion just about anything in your magical or mundane life. Mass of Nuit and Babalon for 2026

This Tuesday, June 30th, we will be performing the Mass of Nuit and Babalon at the Ritual Workshop. This is the full script for the ritual, which we have been celebrating for a number of years now around the Summer Solstice with some pretty impressive results. Doors will open at 7:30 PM with the ritual to start around 8 PM.

The ritual space is set up with the Holy Table and Sigillum Dei Aemeth in the center. The banishing dagger, invoking wand, and bell chime are arranged on the Table. The pitcher containing the Eucharist is placed in the center of the Sigillum. All present should have their own cups or glasses. Holy images of Our Lady Nuit and Our Lady Babalon, including the Star of Babalon, may be prominently displayed. The Lust card from the Crowley/Harris Thoth Tarot can be used as a meditation focus, if desired.

And, since magical powers are descriptive, not prescriptive, this can be scaled up to include all sorts of contemporary issues in our society. Via Solis Capricorn Elixir Rite - Year Nine

Today's post is a full script for the Capricorn Elixir Rite that we will be performing tomorrow, December 23rd, at the Leaping Laughter Ritual Workshop. We will starting around 8 PM.

The ritual space is set up with an altar table in the center. The bell chime, banishing dagger, and invoking wand are placed on the altar. In the center of the altar is placed a cup of wine for creating the elixir, within the Table of Art corresponding to Capricorn.

The sign Capricorn is attributed to the powers of "The Witches' Sabbath so-called" and "the Evil Eye." The latter is a general form of cursing cast by line of sight, but keep in mind that as Capricorn rules the Evil Eye, this sign can be employed both to cast such curses and protect you from them. Seeing as the "Witches' Sabbath" is not a real magical operation, but rather an invention of Medieval witch hunters (as the "so-called" likely acknowledges) it requires some explanation.

According to the imagination of witch hunters, the Witches' Sabbath was a ritual in which witches copulated with the Devil in order to obtain magical powers. So in the context of real magical operations we are talking about sex magick in various forms, whether symbolic or actual. Liber A'ash vel Capricorni Pneumatici, for example, is attributed to this sign and describes in (only slightly) veiled symbolic language a sex magick technique similar to Spare's well-known sigilization method. The Great Rite in the Wiccan tradition would be another example.

In addition, one of the magical weapons attributed to Capricorn is "the secret force" which is a reference to internal energies such as kundalini, whether employed in sex magick operations or otherwise. So another application for Capricorn would be to develop and/or strengthen those energies by magical means. It is important to keep in mind that "sex magick" such does not necessarily involve having sex, but rather working with the union of energetic polarities - which can be accomplished by many different means.

Auto-Talismanic Ritual for 2025

We will be performing the Auto-Talismanic Ritual for the 2025 Winter Solstice this Friday evening, December 19th. Doors open at 6:30 with the ritual to begin around 7 PM.

0. The Temple

The temple is set up with an altar in the center, on which sits the Table of Art. A pitcher filled with wine or juice is placed in the center of the Table. The banishing dagger, invoking wand, and bell chime are placed on the altar. Magus wears white and Sophia wears black. Throughout the ritual, Sophia and Magus face each other across the altar, moving appropriately throughout the various ceremonial forms.

I. Opening

As each person enters the temple, they are handed a glass filled with salt water. Once all are present, Magus takes up the banishing dagger and performs the Star Ruby up to the final Qabalistic Cross.

It is also the only sign attributed to a vision, the "Vision of Universal Peacock." This vision is a significant step in alchemical processes. Transmutation is a general power with many applications, since in a sense all magical operations represent attempts to transmute or transform some aspect of yourself, the external world, or both. Liber Shemesh

Liber Shemesh is a solar invocation combining elements of Aleister Crowley's Liber Resh vel Helios and liber V vel Reguli. Crowley explains in Liber O that following the general (that is, Lesser in his parlance) rituals of the pentagram and hexagram, the next step is to perform a Preliminary Invocation. Elsewhere he writes that this preliminary invocation step identifies the magician with the divine, and it is this identification that allows them to conjure spirits successfully.

Along those lines, Crowley experimented with modifying the Stele of Jeu from the PGM into the Bornless Ritual, published in the Crowley/Mathers edition of The Goetia in 1904. He would later adapt his Bornless Ritual into Liber Samekh, a similar ritual designed to be performed daily over a six-month period to facilitate the knowledge and conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel in a procedure that he believed to be analogous that of the Abramelin operation.

In the 1920’s Crowley developed Liber V vel Reguli, which he described as “an incantation proper to invoke the Energies of the Aeon of Horus, adapted for the daily use of the Magician of whatever grade.” When I first started looking into Liber Reguli, I was struck by its structural similarities to Liber Samekh and to the Greater Ritual of the Pentagram for Malkuth, the version of the GRP that employs all four elemental pentagrams.

As I discussed in my article on the Greater Ritual of the Pentagram, you always do the Greater Ritual of the Pentagram for something, either one of the four elements or the sephira Malkuth. The Malkuth version, which is often found in books describing the ritual, uses pentagrams for all four elements drawn to their corresponding directions. This version is specific to Malkuth and does not served as a "souped up" Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram, since the Greater Ritual of the Pentagram is alway specific and the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram is always general and foundational.

Seb-Hed Ritual for 2025

Today's post is the full script for the Seb-Hed Ritual that we will be performing tomorrow evening, Saturday September 20th, for the Autumnal Equinox at Leaping Laughter here in Minneapolis. The Seb-Hed is based on a rite of renewal practiced for the pharaohs of ancient Egypt, updated with modern ritual forms and so forth. It invokes the balanced energies of Set and Horus, who in ancient times represented Upper and Lower Egypt. Doors open at 6:00 PM with the ritual to start at 7:00 PM.

The Set altar is in the North, and Horus altar is in the South. The material basis is placed on each altar; red wine or juice for Set, white wine or juice for Horus. A statue of each deity is placed on the corresponding altar. A third larger altar with a chalice is placed between them. The invoking wand and banishing dagger are placed on this central altar.

Magical invisibility is more about avoiding being noticed than transparency, parthenogenesis can be used to create artificial spirits such as the servitors made by chaos magicians, and initiation is a general power that can be employed to set in motion just about anything in your magical or mundane life. Mass of Nuit and Babalon for 2025

This Friday, June 20th, we will be performing the Mass of Nuit and Babalon at Leaping Laughter Lodge in Minneapolis. This is the full script for the ritual, which we have been celebrating for a number of years now around the Summer Solstice with some pretty impressive results. Doors will open at 7:30 PM with the ritual to start around 8 PM. This is a public ritual, so if you live in the Twin Cities area and would like to attend you are welcome to do so.

The ritual space is set up with the Holy Table and Sigillum Dei Aemeth in the center. The banishing dagger, invoking wand, and bell chime are arranged on the Table. The pitcher containing the Eucharist is placed in the center of the Sigillum. All present should have their own cups or glasses. Holy images of Our Lady Nuit and Our Lady Babalon, including the Star of Babalon, may be prominently displayed. The Lust card from the Crowley/Harris Thoth Tarot can be used as a meditation focus, if desired.
